Snow Battles About To Begin

There's a certain arrogant blogger (who shall go nameless) who thinks it's a swell idea and encourages his readers to steal parking chairs. First off the guy nor his wife own a car.

Here's what I have to say about that
I no longer live on a narrow side street in town where this affected me at one time. We had two cars and 4 less parking spaces then there were houses so each space was vital even if one left to go grocery shopping for only an hour. When it snowed heavy we lost even more spaces because we had to make snow piles. Every block surrounding that side street had the same problem, so there was no where else to go because they too were screwed. Hell even the sidewalks were so narrow and against the house we had to pile the snow up between cars too.

He feels no one is entitled to parking on the street by law. He is correct, but when it comes to ethics and respect for neighbors, he obviously has none. He also ignores the fact that every homeowner helps pay for those parking spaces.

Here's how this works
If someone spends an hour shoveling their car out and another few hours helping the neighbors shovel out the street in front where plows will not fit, to get to a larger intersection, something is owed to them.

In my case I had to shovel out the back alley of my garage to the next alley, to the half street, to the main plowed street. The wife's car could not be parked in back with mine therefore we took up exactly one space on the street and we both worked and had three kids.

I damned well am entitled to protect that spot.. simply because there is no other place to park.. NOT ANYWHERE.. PERIOD!

If this selfish blogger were to steal my chairs here's how I would deal with him. The lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Park in my spot and I'd shovel the whole pile of snow right back on top of his damn car and let him shovel his way out just like I had to do. That is exactly what I did as a teenager when I lived on South 10th Street just off Hamilton Street.

I worked my ass off shoveling 4 feet of packed snow out of a empty parking space and put chairs in it while I went to retrieve my car. I was parked on 10th Street hill going down to Union Street. The hill is super steep and it took well over an hour to shovel and cinder the street so I could dangerously slide it down that hill for work later that day. When I came around to the spot I just shoveled, a downtown shopper threw my chairs up on the sidewalk and parked in the space I cleared. I specifically shoveled it with the intention of getting my car as soon as possible. My mother and brother spoke with him and he laughed them off. Just like this yahoo blogger might have.

We all three grabbed shovels and buried him so damn deep you couldn't see his roof. When he came back he had no shovel nor sense of humor. But the cop he called did. He thought it rather amusing too. Now who's laughing bozo!

This other blogger hates parking spaces, cars and anyone who has to deal with owning one. If he's too broke or lazy to buy a car that's his business. But for couples who absolutely have to get to work and are unable to ride a bike in snow, rent two cars everyday or ride a bus (which cancels routes on snow days anyway).. shut up'a u'r face. Some of us actually have to go out in the world to earn a living.

     Stop talking so damn dumb!
