My Favorite TV Program

"CBS Sunday Morning" is celebrating it's 40th year. Here are two samples from their past programs.

From 2012: Bill Geist as father of the bride

From 2001: Making a splash

In this world of so much negativity 'CBS Sunday Morning' has always remained a beacon to positivity. An inspiration showing all the good people who always and still exist today. Check Out Their Many Videos HERE

Lehigh Valley's Biggest Industry Warehouses And Hospitals

I was reading on LEHIGH VALLEY LIVE about another proposed hospital center on a 80 acre site in Lower Nazareth Township. Good lord we must have more warehouses and medical treatment faculties then I ever once imagined.

Forget about making things. Seems the burgeoning U.S. job market is now shipping things other countries make and treating one another. Those plus entertaining, selling each other crap and people becoming politicians. Well at least these jobs can't be shipped overseas.

I'm Just Trying To Feed The Birds

... And I don't mean feeding them to the hawk

Although this clip was from April 04, 2018 the same thing happened this morning.
Damnit why can't we all just live on prana alone instead!

Anyone Want To Hear My Opinions On....

* The kids confronting the Native American in Washington?
* How I feel about 'The State Of The Union' Address?
* Trump's latest proposal to end the shutdown?
* Today's TV offerings and their costs?
* Newly elected Representative AOC's views?
* What I'd like in our next president?
* My views on local government?

These are a few of the things I thought posting about. However I see no point if no one's interested. If anyone would like to offer something please do. Pending no feedback I'll await inspiration for other stuff I come across from time to time when it so motivates me.

Right now I'm leaning towards reposting memes and other things people are posting online w/o comment.

Allentown $3 Million Over Budget On Health Care

The Morning Call
Allentown spent $3 million over budget on health care for 2018
"On the heels of a contentious discussion about the city’s 27 percent tax increase for 2019, Allentown officials have revealed they overspent on health care costs by $3 million last year."

How about offering employees $1,600 more a month ($10 an hour more) and let them buy their own private insurance. This is not a crazy as it sounds. The article says the city has 765 employees. If you take 160 work hours a month times 765 employees this works out to $1.224 million per month. Times that by 12 months it would impact the budget $14.688 million a year. That's some $6 million less then the city spend in 2018. Most important of all-- it would be a steady outlay without the unexpected surprises.

Am I missing something here?

Anyone Else See The Big Game Yesterday?

The game between Andy Reid's 'Chief's and the 'Patriots' was a nail biter. It might even be better then the upcoming "Super Bowl".

New Windbags Signed On To MSNBC And CNN

Mediaite.com
Ex-Senator Claire McCaskill Joins NBC and MSNBC

John Kasich Signs With CNN as Political Commentator

I'd like to hear them signing up reporters instead of another bevy of pundits. Whatever happened to reporting the news instead of talking about it. I couldn't believe the other night when MSNBC had 8 boxes on the screen at the same time. That's right... 8 frames of bullshitters lined up a ready to go. Even the BBC is getting in on the act. Now after nearly every report the teleprompter reader then says... A short time a ago I spoke with...blah, blah, blah.. Enough already!

Frankly I don't give a damn what any of them "think". I emphasize the word "think" because it's the word they use every other sentence. The reason is so they can't get sued if they misstate facts.

So what we have here is a bunch of lardasses talking about stories reported. Field reporters themselves are seldom seen. If they are it's for two minutes so these windbags can bloviate about it for the next 20 minutes interspersed with repetitive ads. I truly wish there was just one news channel where they only hired ACTUAL reporters. These so-called news channels have become a retirement home for a bunch of washed up used politicians who couldn't manage to get reelected or appointed by even their own party.

Oh.. I haven't forgotten about FOX news. Either FOX news hires ex white house officials or the other way around with the white house hiring washed up FOX news personnel.

Informative Article About Border Fencing

In May 2017 'CATO Institute' republished a piece entitled, Why The Wall Won't Work. It is the most informative article I've read.

I'm certain most people won't have the attention span to read it in it's entirety. However for those who truly want to understand all the complexities involved it is a must read.

Putting aside the politics here are few things I found interesting. 2/3rds of the border land is privately owned.
Flooding can be a major problem destroying fencing in some areas.
Maintenance costs are in the millions.
Some of the border is separated by hundreds of miles of arid wasteland.
All types of fences can be cut through in minutes.
"From 2007 to 2010, the Border Patrol found more than one tunnel per month, on average."

It's An Alien Invasion I Tell Ya!

No it's not the ones clamoring at our southern border. Instead it's possibly a musical message from anther galaxy meant to absorb our brains. I say this because once you listen to this video you can't get this 'ear worm' out of your head.

116th House Already Has 321 Bills To Consider

As of the second day (January 4, 2019) the House of Representatives already has a list of 321 new bills submitted. I won't list them all but here are a few of the ones I found interesting. You can check them all out along with the latest updates via the link I provided below. Out of those seven I've listed H.R. 40 is the only one I disagree with. H.R.21: Making appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2019, and for other purposes. (PASSED)

H.R.26: To prohibit the pay of Members of Congress during periods in which a Government shutdown is in effect, and for other purposes. (INTRODUCED)

H.R.32: To allow the Secretary of the Treasury to accept public donations to fund the construction of a barrier on the border between the United States and Mexico and for other purposes.

H.R.40: To address the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery in the United States and the 13 American colonies between 1619 and 1865 and to establish a commission to study and consider a national apology and proposal for reparations for the institution of slavery, its subsequent de jure and de facto racial and economic discrimination against African-Americans, and the impact of these forces on living African-Americans, to make recommendations to the Congress on appropriate remedies, and for other purposes. (INTRODUCED)

H.R.67: To provide for the compensation of Federal employees and other government employees furloughed during a Government shutdown, and for other purposes. (INTRODUCED)

H.R.102: To provide that rates of pay for Members of Congress shall not be adjusted under section 601(a)(2) of the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946 in the year following any fiscal year in which outlays of the United States exceeded receipts of the United States. (INTRODUCED)

H.R.113: To require the purchase of domestically made flags of the United States of America for use by the Federal Government. (INTRODUCED)
