Pope Addresses Worldwide Income Disparity

May 17, 2013 -Pope rails against "dictatorship of the economy"

Pope Francis repeated the same message in December.12/12/2013- By Philip Pullella, Reuters: "VATICAN CITY - Pope Francis said in the first peace message of his pontificate that huge salaries and bonuses are symptoms of an economy based on greed and inequality and called again for nations to narrow the wealth gap... "The grave financial and economic crises of the present time ... have pushed man to seek satisfaction, happiness and security in consumption and earnings out of all proportion to the principles of a sound economy," he said.."
These messages set off a firestorm.
Reason.com::, "The Pope claims that the “opinion” that “economic growth, encouraged by the free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness” has “never been confirmed by the facts..."

Rush Limbaugh reportedly said in November, "Somebody has either written this for him or gotten to him. This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope."

Before you decide, let me present two items to think about.(1) PolitiFactWisconsion says, "The Walton family, which owns Wal-Mart, controls a fortune equal to the wealth of the bottom 42 percent of Americans combined."

(2) The chart below from The Center On Budget And Priorities based on the CBO

In My Opinion
The chart above reflects only the economic disparity here in the United States. When you expand this disparity globally...

I hardly think Rush, who reportedly has a net worth of $370 million and earns $70 million a year, is in the best position to comment objectively on his radio program from his $26 million West Palm Beach home.

The median income for 2013 in the United States is $52,000. I have no problem with Rush making 1,346x's more money per year, but I hardly consider him impartial when speaking against the Pope on this issue.

If someone doesn't have a problem with the Walton family owning more assets then 131,838,000 other Americans all combined, I suppose they too will oppose the Pope's message.

As for me, inequality. is too kind a word. This is unfair exploitation of others which can lead to nothing but trouble worldwide if allowed to continue.
