I Don't Have A Clue

Repost

My credit card company sent me the latest changes to the terms of my credit card.

It's four pages long front and back.

The best part is where they wrote these or any other changes could be made anytime at their discretion. So why am I bothering to read this if they could change any of what I just read... I Don't Have A Clue

:
Got a email from my ISP I might be infected

I run Microsoft's malicious software removal tool, Norton anti virus + power eraser and a disc cleaner. None of these found anything wrong... I Don't Have A Clue

This on top of a recent notice I received from YouTube which warned me some of my videos may require "closed captioning" to conform with the "Americans With Disabilities Act"... HUH?

Everything's getting so damned complicated.

As to why I'm having trouble understanding all this gobbledygook?
I Don't Have A Clue
Do You?

Where Are The Space Aliens?

Repost

I read a really well written mind blowing article from a blog entitled 'Wait But Why'- "The Fermi Paradox". I realize most people aren't interested in this subject. I, on the other hand, can never quite get enough of this kind of stuff. I'll post some copy & paste stuff from there. Insert a video of mine. Then if readers want to read more they can hook up with that link if they are still interested. Finally I will post a few comments of my own.

"On the very best nights, we can see up to about 2,500 stars (roughly one hundred-millionth of the stars in our galaxy)... As many stars as there are in our galaxy (100 – 400 billion), there are roughly an equal number of galaxies in the observable universe... there are 100 Earth-like planets for every grain of sand in the world... we’d estimate that there are 1 billion Earth-like planets and 100,000 intelligent civilizations in our galaxy

So where is everybody?
... Maybe there are no higher civilizations in existence... civilization might view the entire physical world as a horribly primitive place, having long ago conquered their own biology and uploaded their brains to a virtual reality... a “superpredator” civilization (like humans are here on Earth)—who is far more advanced than everyone else and keeps it that way by exterminating any intelligent civilization once they get past a certain level.. our technology is too primitive and we’re listening for the wrong things... The universe might appear one way and be something else entirely, like a hologram. Or maybe we’re the aliens and we were planted here as an experiment or as a form of fertilizer. There’s even a chance that we’re all part of a computer simulation by some researcher from another world..."

A Few Comments Of My Own
I've always been filled with wonder about what's going on here. It's almost as if we're God's little joke on himself. A game of hide and seek if you will. All accomplished by limiting our human minds and understanding to a tiny glimpse of what is actually going on. After all, if I were in God's place I would probably do the same thing. Who needs to create beings that might one day mucky things up.

The question remains.. will we ever be able to comprehend the vastness or ever achieve the kind of understanding that we desire to comprehend all of this? I sincerely doubt this under our present form. That's why I was a huge fan of Stargate SG-1 in which writers explored many of these issues which previously aired on the Syfi channel.

""With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
~ Mathew 19:16 ~

“If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”
~ Mark 9:23 ~

“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
~ Luke 1:37 ~

This same thing is repeated in Mark 10:27 and in Luke 18:27. Many may not believe in what the bible says, but certainly there's a grain of truth in them. This didn't come out of thin air and man's imagination alone from these ancient religious scripts. Quantum physics and science are beginning to conclude many of these same things. If someone has a better understanding or explanation of this universe I'd be very interested in hearing from them.

If I Were Putin

Repost

Here would be my wish list hoping to undermine the United States by...
* Destroying Americans trust for their press, intelligence, FBI and government leaders.
* Weaken federal revenues by all means possible including unnecessary tax cuts.
* Weaken allied nations' faith in military and economic agreements.
* Use all means necessary to get a leader elected who could fulfill those goals. As well as someone who could pit people against each other throughout the world including Americans amongst themselves. Someone who would impose tariffs that applied to none of their own or family's businesses. A person who would trash all of his opponents similar to what Putin would do. A person who he and his family benefited millions from USSR loans.

Know anybody like that?

'The Big Bang' Just A Theory?

Repost

To my mind logically it always seemed implausible. The reason I say this is, if there was a point where the explosion occurred there would be an area either more dense OR a unpopulated area where it was to have occurred. Yet every space survey ever done shows equal density the full 360 degrees in every direction. To my way of thinking this would be impossible if there were a so-called 'Big Bang'.

In other words when it comes to the universe we're left with little else then theoretical science. Thus my thoughts are as valid as any. Can't prove me wrong. Can't prove me right. Thanks to this $10 billion marvel of scientific geniuses proving I'm not totally off the mark.

By the way, this also proves we have no idea how or when all of this started. All we have to work with is the "visible" universe known through the equipment we have today. No telling if we'll ever learn what lies beyond theoretical math or our own limited physicality.

Science is now showing us our greatest imaginations cannot begin to fathom the actual massive reality which exists beyond human comprehension.

Squirrel Problems (Humor)

Repost

The Presbyterian church called a meeting to decide what to do about their squirrel infestation. After much prayer and consideration, they concluded the squirrels were predestined to be there and they shouldn't interfere with God's divine will.

At the Baptist church the squirrels had taken an interest in the baptistery. The deacons met and decided to put a water-slide on the baptistery and let the squirrels drown themselves. The squirrels liked the slide and, unfortunately, knew instinctively how to swim so twice as many squirrels showed up the following week.

The Lutheran church decided that they were not in a position to harm any of God's creatures. So, they humanely trapped their squirrels and set them free near the Baptist Church. Two weeks later the squirrels were back when the Baptists took down the water-slide.

But the Catholic church came up with a very creative strategy! They baptized all the squirrels and made them members of the church. Now they only see them at Christmas and Easter.

Not much was heard from the Jewish synagogue; they took the first squirrel and circumcised him. They haven't seen a squirrel since.

Internet Pop Ups Warning-- Don't Do Them

Repost

Nearly every site is now using them. They really get under my skin. First off they are "java" scripted meaning we don't know what they will do.

They are absolutely unnecessary. These serve only two purposes. It either benefits a site monetarily or there's some other nefarious reason for them. Merely clicking on the "X" or "SKIP" is an acknowledgment for whatever purpose the web creator designed them to do.

Clicking on them provides a means for a web designer to acknowledge your approval for something you may or may not fully understand or agree with. Common sense should dictate why they would be necessary in the first place. In short, don't never ever do it

This goes double for a pop ups claiming you've been infected.

I've already ran across some that refused to let me close the browser. Here's how to get around this problem. Press the CTRL-ALT-DELETE keys simultaneously. This will bring up the "Task Manager". Chose "end the task" option for the browser. Restart the browser and use the tools menu. Under the internet options delete the files. Then close the browser, restart and repeat this procedure a second time and you'll be A-OK.

Above all else never ever acknowledge a pop up of any kind no matter what.

If Herd Immunity Worked

Repost From 2021

Hepatitis B, Diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, polio, tuberculosis, influenza, STDs, Measles, mumps, rubella, Human papillomavirus, Meningococcal virus, the common cold and dozens of others would have been eradicated on their own. 36 million wouldn't have died from HIV infections.

In other words over these many centuries we would have been virus free by now. So the next time some idiot politician, social media pandemic expert wanna be, celebrity host or so-called medical expert claim variations of Covid virus infections will lead to herd humanity weigh that that against all scientific evidence that indicates it's impossible.

Computers May One Day Render Us Obsolete

Repost

I sometimes wonder what the end goal is for that which created us (God). After creating countless creatures we are the end product (for now). What if we are just the next step (a tool) in the continuing evolution of all things?

We individuals are composed of biological chemicals along with all the flaws inherit in them. We humans are always trying to eliminate those flaws. Should we not assume our creator (God) may be trying to perfect the same by whatever means he/she/it has at his/her/it's disposal too (us)?

Wonderful and terrifying implications of computers that can learn

Linear vs. Non-Linear Thinking

Repost

I became interested in this because of the Oscar noninated movie "Arrival" (2016).

I've always been a fan of Sci-Fi stories. So too the way these writers get me to thinking.

Aside from the plot the biggie here is the difference with how these aliens think in "non-linear" terms opposed to how we think "linearly". In other words we humans think in sequential pieces along a straight line, but that may not be the only way when it comes to understanding. Taking a closer look I see artificial intelligence developers have been working on this in great detail for some time

This can be best explained by computers having unlimited capacity for multitasking--something we humans are incapable of. Suppose we as a human stood before an object. We would be limited to only one view at a time. A computer on the other hand could be looking all 360 degrees around, over/under and inside all at the same time. While our human minds could understand each individually we'd never be able to comprehend the entire composite make up in one sitting other then metaphorically.

Now apply this to the universe in all it's complexity. Suppose a artificial intelligence could be developed which could take in everything which makes up a galaxy. Light, gravity, it's entire structure including each black hole, sun, planet, radio waves, all there is within along with the scientific formulas controlling them all at the same time. Us humans limited to linear thinking would have to rely on thousands of other minds in an attempt to develop some sort of metaphorical understanding. A view far different from it's actual over all totality.

This is what fascinated me about this movie. What if there were an alien race not limited to such things. A race who could multitask in a non-linear fashion--unfettered by our own limited sequential (straight line) cognitive logic?

In the movie our hero linguist discovers where you start out (in a circle of logic) each will produce a different outcome. However these aliens try to express the entire number of possible outcomes in a single spiral. Fully understanding this creates results entirety different from those assumed prior.

This is the challenge today's AI developers face when trying to create algorithms capable of human understanding as to what has been culled. In other words someday we may be too limited by our abilities to relate to these so-called machines. This leads to the question whether we will play a part in the future of how ever evolving intelligence. expresses itself. Will one day these devices look upon us as lower species then themselves?

The Way I See 'The Creator' (GOD)
He/she/it will occupy/express itself in whatever form there is. Humans may think themselves 'all that and more' but so do monkeys, elephants and ants who led their tribes before we came along. This creator (whatever it may be) is on an ever evolving quest to expand itself. If we're unable to transition beyond our linear measurement of thought at least we can say we contributed towards the next advancement. Every thing and everyone has it's day for a little while in the larger scheme of things. Hopefully he/she/it will look upon us gracefully.

Final Thought
I really appreciate movies/TV and all those who inspire others to think outside the box. H/T to each and every one of them. Keep em' coming.
