State closing Allentown corrections center, making way for Tower 6"After 30 years in Downtown Allentown, the state Department of Corrections announced Tuesday it is closing its Community Corrections Center later this summer... A majority of center's residents will be transferred to the Lehigh County Jail's work release facility, while some may be transferred to other state centers, such as Scranton or Wernersville in Berks County."





WFMZ:"The closure, anticipated to be complete by August 31, is the result of plans announced earlier this month to tear down the center's building and construct a 12-story office building on the downtown site, officials said."
