Allentown Temporarily Closing Two Pools
WFMZ is reporting, "The city is closing Mack Pool, 1901 Mack Blvd., and Jordan Pool, 1201 N. Sixth St., due to maintenance issues, according to a news release from the city. Officials hope to re-open both pools some time on Saturday [July 18, 2015]"
Good lord.. the parks are slowly falling apart. Cedar Beach & Fountain Park cement ponds are both gone. Weeds along the creeks. A fallen wall, closed access roads, no iron bridge in the Lehigh Parkway. What's next is anybody's guess.
For what Allentown's planning to spend on rebuilding Cedar Beach pool. For what these pools cost with the liability risks involved and the maintenance/chemicals/labor the city might as well contract with Dorney and buy a stack of seasons passes. I said this before, it would be cheaper in the long run. Kids would love it a lot more too and it never seems to break down.
