The High Cost Of Making Money


According to "Good Magazine" it cost the U.S. Government 2.4 cents to make a penny and about 11.2 cents to make a nickel. The article questions why the U.S. Government doesn't use other materials that could save us about $100 million a year.

Good Magazine points out that maybe it's because lobbyists have pressured Congress to continue using the current materials. Not to mention all the vending machines and parking meters that would have to be reworked.

And naysayers accuse me of resisting change!
~pun intended~

The article goes on to point out, if congress can't even agree on pennies or nickels, imagine the fussing that will continue to plague the ongoing federal budget negotiations that involves trillion of $'s.
