Tobacco Tax Is Ridiculous

I just ran the numbers and I found this hard to believe, but it's true!

Cigarettes cost about $68.50 a carton here in Pennsylvania.

There are about 14 ounces of tobacco in each carton. This works out to be around $4.89 an ounce.

The average retail price for tobacco without the tax is about $.82 (cents) an ounce.
A 600% markup after manufacture & taxes to consumers!!!

This month tobacco farmers expect to earn only $.125 cents ($2) a pound for top quality tobacco. Even less on poorer grades.

(Only little more then 3% of what consumers pay over the counter)

There's so many things I could say, but I'll leave it at this...

Why would anyone commit to a life of crime when there are so many better ways of stealing legally?
