Snow Emergency Parking-- Dittos Ron Beitler

"It is not the government’s job to hold your hand every time it snows. If you see it’s snowing outside and you park your car on a public road you then have the responsibility to find out if a snow emergency is declared. That’s on you. It’s part of the responsibility of owning a car and parking it on public streets in the winter."

  1. Thanks for posting. I do think residents had a legit gripe about the 400 towing rate. The township doesn't have a contract for towing. We could have done a better job vetting the rate private companies charge. (The twp. doesn't see a penny from towing.) Unfortunately there just aren't many options. Of the towing companies in or near the township 1 is under contract with PSP another is uninterested so we're left with the third. Now, our manager was able to negotiate the price down 65.00 and I think that was the right thing to do.

But in the end, if you see it snowing it's on residents to find out if emergency is declared and I think the twp does a great job putting that information out there. Radio, Tv, Email blasts, Social media. You can pick up the telephone and call the township ect. ect.

    1. We haven't lived on a snow emergency route in years. When we did, both the wife and I parked somewhere else under the assumption that every snow could be a problem. These were years long before we had emails or local TV. As a result neither my car nor the wife's never once was ticketed or towed.

It's a bit ironic that a number people complain about government being intrusive. Then turn around and complain when it isn't :-)

      BTW: Thanks For Your Reply
