Whatcha Think?

#1
It's being reported that Leonardo DiCaprio snatched up a multimillion-dollar apartment in Greenwich Village. Does anyone one really think he plans to live there or is he buying it for a investment? We constantly read about these kind of things but I tend to think for the wealthier stars it's more about investment then a place to kick off their shoes.

For what it's worth the daughter once dated a fella who's parents were from New York and were very tight with the DiCaprio family. His parent's marriage was officiated by Timothy Leary. What they all had in common was the art scene in NYC. My daughter had a sit down dinner at the home of the DiCaprio family. She found Leonardo quite boring. It was on the eve before he left for Japan to shoot a film. Maybe he just wasn't into doing the family thing that night, eh?

Is it just me and Obama who think this embargo thing with Cuba is dumb? We've been at this since 1961. The only persons getting screwed are American tourists and the Cuban people. Nearly every other country in the world can visit and enjoy Cuba's beaches and night spots. For most of us, other then Cuban-Americans, the press and artists, it's a crime to visit.

Dontcha' think it's kinda screwed up that U.S. citizens are allowed to visit places like Mexico, North Korea, Iraq, Columbia and dozens of other countries but not Cuba? It isn't like Cuba has nukes, is in the drug trade or planning to terrorize Key West some 90 miles away. What the Hell !

With money being tight when it comes to Education, Social Security, Medicare, food stamps and all the things we complain about government wasting money on, why is it a good idea to fork over $10 million a year to AT&T for user data? I bet the 'anonymous' hackers could do it for a lot less. Besides this would give them something useful to do, would it not?

Dontcha' think giving someone a DUI for smoking weed weeks earlier kind of pointless? Isn't this more about raking in fines then keeping the public safe? Why stop at a week. What about a month before? How about 6 months? Yeah I feel safer.. thanks!

Dontcha' think the whole government shutdown thing was stupid? The National Parks and Smithsonian museums lost $7 million alone. This doesn't include the back pay for government workers that weren't on the job for almost 3 weeks. The IRS also reported it didn't collect 'enforcement fees' of about $1b a week either. If you and I don't show up for work, we don't earn money. Apparently neither does the government... except for those members of congress who caused this to happen in the first place.

Dontcha' think it's kinda pointless to post this crap since the world will go right on spinning irregardless of your or my opinions?
:-)
