Pa. AG Kathleen Kane Making A Run For Governor?

Philadelphia Daily News Political Columnist John Baer takes a look into the possibility in his article... "Are you running for governor in 2014 or just preparing in case of a draft?...

... even though she insists she's not running for governor, this cannot make fellow Democrats who are running all that happy...

Less than a year in office and almost three years from facing re-election, she's aggressively raising mega-money. She had a big fundraiser in late September at the Comcast Center. Tickets ranged from $1,000 to $25,000. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports she's holding another fundraiser Monday in Harrisburg with ticket prices from $500 to $10,000."

Seems to me she might have been setting herself up to make a run if not now sometime in the near future. Since she became Pennsylvania's first ever female attorney general she's more then once opposed current Republican Governor Tom Corbett on several fronts.

As attorney general she refused to defend Pennsylvania from a lawsuit over the gay rights ban. Gov. Corbett meanwhile has compared it to "incest" and is fighting it separately. Currently this is still in the court's hands and has yet to play out.

She has launched a investigation into the handling by, then attorney general, Tom Corbett's handling of the sex abuse scandal at Penn State.

This past February she struck down Corbett's plan to privatize Pa.'s lottery

In short, she's no friend of Tom Corbett.

She also would pose a serious threat to Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski 's aspirations to become governor if she ran.

Whether Kathleen decides to run or not, the Allentown mayor still faces another harsh reality. Currently he trails behind 4 other Democratic challengers out of a field of 5. It looks like Allentown's mayor will be sticking around long after the puck drops on the ice in Allentown's new hockey arena.

One other thing worth noting...
If Kathleen Kane became governor of Pennsylvania, she would be the first ever woman ever elected to that office as well.
