Share The Wealth, No Way Jose

Jillian Berman wrote a piece for the Huffington Post, "Biggest Tax Break In U.S. History May Not Be Enough For Boeing". She wrote that Boeing was offered possibly the biggest tax break ever by Washington state. Despite being offered $8.7 billion in tax incentives over the next 27 years, Boeing may decide not to stick around because of a beef they have with the machinist union.

Seems the union isn't so hot on the idea of it's workers only getting 1% earning increases every other year. Workers would also now have to contribute to their own retirement. Something which in the past they did not have to do being Boeing picked up the tab for their pensions prior to this.

Life is good for Boeing. According to Jillian's article Boeing already has evaded paying taxes on it's earnings in every other state + scored $1.8 billion in tax rebates from the IRS over the course of 10 years.

Speaking of not wanting to share the wealth it's been reported by Maxwell Strachan over at Huffington Post that Walmart's CEO is getting a much better retirement package then it's workers do. Imagine that!

Maxwell reports the average 401k balance of a worker at Walmart has about $18,303 in it. Whereas the CEO's retirement package is worth $113,157,559. His salary is reported to be 836x's that of the median Walmart worker.

I've always felt there nothing wrong with becoming successful and rich. At the same time I never felt it would be socialism if the U.S. legislated the allowable incomes of those at the top to be limited to some sort of ratio to the least paid. This guy being paid $20.7m (836x's) more is ridiculous. I can guarantee he and most of those at the top won't have to spend Thanksgiving, Christmas nor any day that has meaning to them working if they chose not to.

I promise you I have no beef with incredibly wealthy, powerful nor successful people. I do have a problem with someone earning over $54,794 a day (as this guy does). While others beneath him may have to work 4 years or more to make this amount of money. That's just not right! Nobody... I mean NOBODY is worth this amount of money. Not this or any CEO. A sports player. A celebrity
      NO ONE!

While socialism is to be despised so is a system of greed where one person's labor is worth many thousands of times over that of another. Each will eventually fail. Greed leads to a breakdown of society.
