Congress Separating The Wheat From The Chaff

If your doing alright for yourself, good for you. Consider yourself part of the 'Wheat'. On the other hand if your among the poor (working or otherwise), consider yourself part of Congress's Chaff 'Shaft".

"Congress cut funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program by about $155 million this year, and total funding has decreased from $5.1 billion to $3.32 billion since 2010."

COMMENTARY
I'm not going to go on a long tirade about what the government responsibilities should or should not be. I simply will say this. Any government that can't solve the inequities between those who make a sincere effort to work and still cannot pay their bills, is not worthy. I'm not encouraging government to hand out free money. All government has to do is level the playing field a bit. Either through raising the minimum wage or reigning in those who are taking an unfair advantage over others.

I'm not sure how far we can stretch the rubber band between the economic differences, but at some point things are bound to snap. The government can't keep letting one half sink without giving them a fighting chance. Then compound the problem by boxing people into a corner by cutting off the former lifelines like Social Security, food stamps, unemployment and heating assistance. This all the while giving breaks to the other half. It's like a parent who continually is sticking it to one kid while spoiling the other. At some point the kid who is getting screwed over will inevitably rebel.

People who are hungry, cold and can't make their paychecks meet their expenses month after month become desperate. Desperate people throughout history have risen up against their oppressors. This is exactly how our nation began. It was when our nation's 13 colonies became desperate and stood up against the King of England. It wasn't pretty and I sure as hell don't want to go through that again.

A Wiser man then I once said....
"The community which has neither poverty nor riches will always have the noblest principles."
~ Plato~
