Illegal Immigration And Crime

Relax it may not be as serious as you might think

The problem with mainstream media is they report on what they think the viewers want to watch. Never mind they stirred the pot in the first place.

They did this by selectively reporting on a homicide here or there every few weeks committed by an illegal out of over the three dozen that happen every single day.

Here in the United States 14,827 people were murdered in 2012.
On average over 40 a day (1.7 per hour)!

I'm sure if I wanted to promote an agenda it would be a simple task to pick out only those whom I wanted to highlight and selectively report on those. If I'm handed a list of 40 murders each day I could skewer it to look like Muslims, gays, minorities or YES even Illegals are doing all the murdering. Then disportionately report on who's committing these homicides.

Here's What The Facts Are
According to the 'CATO Institute' research shows, "Both the Census-data driven studies and macro-level studies find that immigrants are less crime-prone than natives with some small potential exceptions."

A July 16, 2015 'USA Today' headline read, How violent are undocumented immigrants?. Reporter Alan Gomez wrote, "From 1990 to 2013, the number of undocumented immigrants in the country tripled from 3.5 million to 11.2 million. Yet during that time, violent crime rates dropped 48% nationwide... The reporter in me wishes there was a more definitive way of comparing crime rates for undocumented immigrants and the American-born population. But using the data we have, it seems impossible to responsibly claim that those immigrants are more likely to commit crimes than their American-born neighbors."

I will grant you even one murder by an illegal is one too many if that person wasn't here in the first place. On the other hand, neither is the sky falling. People aren't getting killed all over the place by those here illegally as some alarmists might have people believe.

If we still had responsible journalism this wouldn't be a issue considering all the other things that threaten our daily lives much more directly. Topics like guns, drugs in our neighborhoods, violence in our school/homes and on persons to name a few.

Statistically every one of us are far more likely to fall victim to any of these then by inference illegals are more violent then bona fide American born citizens. If you've taken the trouble to read the articles on the research I posted above you'll see most of these came here to escape violence in the first place. The same research indicated drug lords, radicals and other bad guys prefer to stay in familiar neighborhoods in their home countries where they are more easily able to operate on home turf.

This doesn't mean every single illegal isn't looking for trouble or a free ride. However I suspect the last thing most want to do is draw attention to themselves. By committing crimes ending up in jail and/or deported back home they'd risk everything which drove them to leave behind all they ever known in the first place. The vast majority know they will not be welcome and realize they have lots of obstacles to overcome.

Logic dictates that if it were my family that was threatened it would take an awful lot to spend every penny I ever had, move to a foreign country who's customs and languages were different and people hated me for being there. I tend to think in that regard they may not be so different from you and I.

We all need to take a look at this from another point of view bearing in mind what research statistics indicate. Not just on selective news reports.
