Coke's Super Bowl AD Controversy

My Comments About The Article Above
When a company spends close to $8 million a minute for an advertisement they expect to get the most bang for their buck. There's no better way to get that then having it become viral through a national controversy. Question is, was this controversy manufactured (I suspect) as a way to encourage a bunch of dupes to climb on the silly train.

Here's The AD

If I worked at an advertising agency and wanted to juice up my commercial that everyone would still be talking about long after the super bowl, I'd create a faux controversy. I have no way of knowing if this is what happened. However one thing's for sure, this was the addy that's getting the most attention. Most of the haters coming out of the woodwork have made some of the most ignorant statements. Not the least of which that it was a insult to our national anthem. Pardon me... 'National Anthem"? Are you stupid? << Rhetorical question

There is no finer way to get your product recognition out there then by exploiting the current hot button issue over foreign immigration and then stirring up a faux hullabaloo . Imagine if the AD execs would have had the social sites of today's current internet available to them back then in 1971 when Coca Cola ran this addy with a bunch of foreigners singing this tune...

Or this reunion follow up commercial back in 1990 (19 Years Later)...

The whole damn thing must be a liberal driven agenda by a billion dollar corporation, right? Well I suppose it's nice to know not all billion dollar corporations are supporting conservative ideologies if that's what you want to believe. OR could it be Coca Cola likes the fact their commercial is getting 10's millions of dollars worth more of publicity out of their original investment?

Now that the Supreme Court ruled corporations are people too, I think all of us should be more kind towards them. After all, just like individuals, they now have feelings too :-)

A far less sinister conspiracy minded explanation may be found in the fact Coca Cola throughout the 60's, 70, 80's and 90's always used hit music to sell their product.

New Seekers, "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing"

There was once a time when American people weren't looking for a schizophrenic-like motive in everything. It was a time when we just plain felt goodwill towards one another. Perhaps the reason behind these advertisements are simply that. I hope people realize there are real living human beings who work for Coca Cola who may simply want to say something nice. Maybe folks should take off their tin foil hats once and a while and just accept things for which they were intended.
