I'm a purest when it comes to Broadway musicals. By that I mean I'm not a fan of musicals that are little more then glorified rock concerts. Written by Woody Allen' "Bullets Over Broadway" is nothing like that. It's pure Broadway at it's finest and has all the elements I look for. Tap dancing. Performers singing their guts out. A great musical score. Along with comedic overtones.
Most of the tunes are well known. People will likely be already familiar with them. It's the great rearrangements adapted by Glenn Kelly for the show that makes these musical numbers shine as if new again.
The musical is under direction & choreography of Susan Stroman (Young Frankenstein, The Producers, Steel Pier, Big, Crazy For You, etc.).
"Bullets Over Broadway" is scheduled to go into previews beginning Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the St. James Theatre (246 W. 44th). I always try to go when these shows are a week or two into their previews. This is because often times after a few weeks/months of the show's opening the original stars leave. It's not unusual for producers to pay the big bucks to the most well known and talented performers in order to get the show off the ground by offering them a limited engagement contract.
Tickets are $52-$147
I receive no remuneration or consideration of any kind. I posted this strictly as a FYI
