Green Lane, Pa. Loop Trail

Reposted From July 5th, 2010

Pottstown Mercury--
The Green Lane 1.7 Mile Loop Trail Officially Opens

June 4, 2010
Montgomery County Commissioners and area dignitaries cut the ribbon

"The new loop ties into the Perkiomen Trail, which connects to the Schuylkill River Trail, giving Montgomery County a 45-mile long trail linking downtown Philadelphia, Valley Forge National Historical Park, John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove, three county parks and Pennypacker Mills historic site."

So on Friday (July 2, 2010) we decided to take our bikes for a walk. That's what we do when we encounter 10+ degree hills!

While it is a beautiful ride it's not great for the less then hardy souls. I felt if we ever decided to give this another ride I'd rather have a bottle of oxygen on the bike then one filled with water. :-)

We only went as far as to where the "Red Trail" begins its journey around the reservoir for 9 miles. At that point we turned around.

I felt a Déjà vu moment coming on. We once had a bad experience when we tried to loop the Blue Marsh Dam up in Reading on a 95 degree day.

Sometimes I just get older. Other times I get older and wiser. Such was the latter case when we wisely decided to turn around after the first 4 miles from where we started.

Here are a few pictures from the ride. Green Lane Park is a gorgeous.
