Let's Talk About Illegal Immigration

Anyone who has been paying attention to the race for president will note how Donald Trump has his panties in a knot over "illegal" immigration from Mexico. Let's take a deeper look into this.

Illegals DO Pay Taxes
They pay sales taxes, property taxes when they rent. All federal/state/local taxes are taken out of their paychecks before they get them. In addition even though social security is deducted automatically they are not entitled to it even if they're using fake ID's to get hired.

Unauthorized Immigrants Are Taking Away American Jobs
What kind of jobs are we talking about? The crap jobs most Americans don't want picking farm fields, cleaning toilets and so forth. The kind of jobs that surely any employer would prefer not taking the risk in hiring if they could find legitimate bonafide American workers willing to do these jobs.

Our Mexican Border Is The Problem
No it's not. 40% are those who overstayed their temporary visas from various countries. Some sneaked in by boat along our 95,000 mile shorelines. Some through the 5,525 mile largely rural Canadian border to our North. Our Mexican border is only 1,989 miles long. Building a wall would only cover 2%. Trump's plan to force Mexico to pay for it is by imposing a tax on companies who manufacture and bring parts into this country. I don't understand how that's forcing Mexico to pay for anything. We'd be the ones ultimately ending up paying in the form of increased prices, no?

The Hidden Costs
Illegal or not many of those will no doubt give birth to offspring born on U.S. soil whereupon they are considered legal U.S. citizens. Deporting a parent or both parents will not only break up families (a social issue) but transfer the burden of raising parentless offspring onto U.S. taxpayers.

MY THOUGHTS
A more common sense solution is to not consider this issue in simplistic terms. Of course none us want to have open borders. It would be like everybody overloading a life boat then sinking because of it. We have to seek solutions in realistic terms. People will do what they have always done, try seeking a better life. Sometimes breaking the rules or by whatever means they can to accomplish that goal.

It's my opinion that even if someone came here uninvited their work history, family circumstance, the length they've been here and criminal record should be of consideration as to whether or not they be under review for amnesty.

Donald can build whatever walls he wants sticking it to consumers. None of this will ever stop people doing what they've always done under desperation. No amount of deportations nor detentions will ever stop people from leaving far more miserable conditions in seeking what they believe to be the promise land far away here in the United States.

This isn't about some liberal agenda nor humanitarian need. Rather how to best deal with something that always existed and always will.
