Corruption In Allentown Few Give A Hoot

I've chosen not to go overboard posting about either the FBI investigation into Allentown city hall nor last night's (08/05/2015) council meeting. Here's why..

What's The Point?
WFMZ-TV covered the meeting. So did The Express Times as well as the The Morning Call who also did a prior piece on the FBI visiting city hall a year ago.

Pathetically most of what mainstream media is now reporting on in greater detail was sourced from Bernie's 'L.V. Ramblings' blog and Michael's 'Molovinsky On Allentown' blog who first did all the heavy lifting and whom they'll never acknowledge.

Take note the number of comments left on all four of the commercial major news stories. At the time of this writing there are less then a dozen between all four. People may bitch and moan about mainstream coverage but why should they when so few obviously care. Indeed there were 60 very concerned citizens who showed for the council meeting. Lots of comments left on those two other blogs who've done a much better job then I ever could. Other then that most people don't give a rat's ass.

My wife tried to tell me that for sometime and she's right. Despite this blog and others carrying on about this for years there's little interest beyond those 60 or so other people who show up complaining and getting nowhere at these city hall meetings time after time and time again. Hell, less then 10% even bother to vote. Seems to be either (a) a case of frustration (b) a transient population of renters who could care less (c) fear of retaliation for speaking up or (d) people don't give a hoot as long as they have an arena or beanery to plop down in. Take your pick.

No matter how many people show up complaining to city council their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Other then for council member Jeanette Eicenwald who voted against many of this city's follies for years it's an exercise in futility. I admire Bernie's and Mike's persistence and those who regularly show up to make their concerns known. I've not been addressing this on this blog with regularity lately for two reasons. (1) Both of these other bloggers far exceed any information I could offer. (2) I've found there's little interest expressed either here on this blog nor in mainstream's reporting of these events. So what would be the point?

One Final Thought
No matter how much apathy council and citizens seem to have or how many citizens complain at meetings nor what bloggers report, the FBI investigation will trump all. Other then this there's little else I have to contribute other then what I just said (like it would make a difference even if I did). Although I'm still keenly aware and interested in what's going on it's likely I will have little else to say on this blog about this in the future. But who knows... never say never.

  1. I hope this time is different and the 10% who vote take notice

    1. I imagine the 10% who vote will have less a selection after the federal probe is done. That ought to help :-)
