Israeli War On Gaza

Some quotes that seem applicable to my thoughts concerning this assault on the Palestinians.

"Never think that war, no matter how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime."
~Ernest Hemingway~

"War does not determine who is right - only who is left."
~Bertrand Russell~

"When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die."
~Jean-Paul Sartre~

"What is human warfare but just this; an effort to make the laws of God and nature take sides with one party."
~Henry David Thoreau~

"Patriots always talk of dying for their country and never of killing for their country."
~Bertrand Russell~

"Wanton killing of innocent civilians is terrorism, not a war against terrorism."
~Noam Chomsky~

A Quick Summary Of The Problem
The Palestinians (right or wrong) consider themselves much like the Native Americans whose land was taken from them. The Israeli's want to just be left alone. However they had a hand in some of the problems they are now facing.

Even though Palestinians have acted like jerks, Israel has imposed overly harsh restrictions on Gaza. Even so that's no excuse for Palestinians to perpetuate vengeance for all eternity. They need to acknowledge and accept they no longer hold the rights to all of the land in that area of the world.

It takes two to start a fight and it takes two to end it. We have higher expectations from Israel then Palestinians whom they claim are terrorists. There's a way of going about this in a much more humanitarian way then incurring a 85% causality rate among civilians who have little or nothing to do with the threats against Israel. Carpet bombing everything in site is not what the world expects of Israel.

Israel has every right to defend itself. No one questions that, but turning Gaza into a pile of rubble, boxing in innocent parents and children killing them can only result in more future hatred.

With power comes responsibility. Wars are not won on the battlefield but in hearts and minds of the people. So far Israel seems to have neglected to focus on that fact.

Here's What Israel Needs To Do
(1) Provide safe havens and medical areas for those who deserve mercy. (2) Show the same respect for them as they would for their own. (3) Recognize the right for these innocents to exist even if when their political representatives won't extend the same rights to Israel. This is what separates a nation of goodwill from those who perpetuate evil in this world.

My intention is not to be critical of Israel. Rather to remind them how much the Jewish people suffered under Hitler and not repeat the same mistakes. Ethnic cleansing is not a solution. Israel needs to lead by example. Not by the use of superior force. Otherwise this suffering and conflict will go on forever

If Israel is to be shown favor in God's eyes they need to show why they think they deserve to be "God's Chosen People". To do otherwise places such a belief in doubt.

  1. you, and many others, even including some jews, fail to understand the logistics of the conflict. israel could completely destroy gaza in hours if they so chose, without risking one soldier of their own. hamas, which is fully supported by the population, intentionally embeds their weapons in the populated areas, especially schools, mosques, hospitals.etc. although people are being intentionally butchered all over the middle east, the world would rather criticize israel for unintentional deaths in gaza.
