Soldiers' Payrolls Are FUBAR!

Many people who sign up with the military are those who can't find a civilian job. Many are desperately turning to the military as a way to earn a living in today's near impossible to get hired job market. One would expect companies to find ways to cheat their employees out of their rights under law.

It's twice the outrage when our own government cheats the men & women out of their pay after they left military service. Especially this being the case for those who suffer afflictions from their combat assignments including lost limbs and/or mental breakdowns. Incompetence is far too kind a word for what is happening. It's more like government's discarding of soldiers they longer have use for because they no longer serve their purpose.

Let this be a cautionary tale to all of those who are thinking about enlisting because they can't find a job in the civilian sector. There are federal laws that protect civilian workers in a number of ways. There are laws that protect employees safety. The amount of overtime. Rules that company payrolls and pensions are required to meet. Under the military all of those rules go out the window. I usually don't like to focus on piss-me-off articles, but this one needs to be told.

Check out this lengthily article, the 1st in a series of future articles.
It also focuses on several other veterans and their payroll nightmares.

Then there's this...
Decorated, wounded Marine treated
'shamefully' by security screeners

By Patricia Kime (Staff writer) | Military Times (Jul. 5, 2013)
"Retired Marine Cpl. Nathan Kemnitz, severely injured in 2004 in a roadside bomb attack in Fallujah, has limited use of his right arm and cannot lift it above his head. So when security guards at the state capitol building in Sacramento, Calif., asked him to remove his dress blue blouse “because he was wearing too much metal,” and TSA asked him to raise his arms above his head for the full-body scanner at Sacramento International Airport, he could not comply. “My right arm doesn’t work. It’s a lot of hassle for me to do that,” Kemntiz said.

Kemnitz was visiting the building to be honored as his legislative district’s veteran of the year."
Honest to goodness I think it's great that many are still willing to join the military, but I wonder how many are now questioning themselves after being treated this way afterwards. All this crap is inexcusable by any definition. How many people will continue to care about their government if the government doesn't care enough about them to fix this FUBAR situation is anyone's guess.
