S.F Plane Crash Oddity

On Saturday, July 6th, 2013 a Boeing 777 coming from South Korea crash landed in San Francisco. As if that weren't unexpected enough...

"When the aircraft came to rest on its belly at water’s edge, Lee Jang Hyung said an announcement came over the plane's PA system that the jet had landed safely. Moments later, the mangled cabin filled with smoke, and flames could be seen bursting out the windows."
Apparently these planes have become so automated even the announcements are pre-programmed into their systems. Seems to me programmers should have built in an alternative announcement for a contingency such as this. Staying in your seat is not good advice.

Not that passengers, after the announcement under ordinary circumstances, actually stay in their seats till the plane pulls up to the gate anyway.
