Carl Sagan On Religion

A Universe Not Made For Us

In short all of us are inclined to look for help outside ourselves. Whether this be outside dependence on government, religion, space aliens or Santa Claus-- I wouldn't wait around for any of them to save the day.

Politically Speaking Think About These Issues (Videos)

The Newsroom - Tea Party is the American Taliban

The Newsroom- Homosexuality

The Newsroom- Gun Control

Will McAvoy's Apology

Name any well researched and written entertainment program like it on the air today. You don't have to agree with the things presented but I for one feel this program had a greater influence then all the cable news networks combined. Hence why we may never see another program like it. Yes it pissed conservatives off. Now you know how I feel when the president holds his rallies. Last night's rally was designed to appeal to peoples raw emotions over refutable facts.

Yes I know Will McAvoy was only a character played on TV. Does anyone really think today's pundits on TV aren't role playing as well? 'The Newsroom' never claimed to be an actual news broadcast. This makes them more honest then most of those which claim to be on TV.

Here's is who is going to win in 2020.
The one that can exploit peoples emotions the most. I think judging by today's climate this will pretty much be a fact free campaign. It'll be a contest between empathy or anger. Ought to be interesting to see which path Americans choose.

God May Not Be On Our Side

Neil deGrasse Tyson on God

Neil of course was speaking towards the human species. Here's the way I see it.

If God favored the creation of all the species (including plants) equally he/she/it felt it would be important each one felt the need to survive. Without this instinct for survival each of the creations could perish before they were able to reproduce enabling the sustaining of themselves. In other words as soon as the going got tough they'd likely choose to end their suffering prematurely.

This applies not only to humans but plants, all the other animals, bacteria and viruses as well. Every living creature feeds on the other in this world. Hence it explains why people can become infected by some pretty nasty diseases that wish to extend their own existence through feeding on our bodies. Does it not therefore make sense why no matter how much one prays that the creator will end the life of various disease causing bacteria within us he/she/it will fail to honor such a request?

Yes I know we all would like to think we human species are special but all indications are we are not in the creator's eyes. Otherwise he/she/it only would have created humans and none of these other species in the first place. Same goes with all the disasters on this earth like flooding, droughts, earthquakes and the like which indiscriminately takes the lives of not only us but other species as well including plants. In other words God doesn't favor humans no matter how we wish it weren't so.

So what about these so-called disasters?
Although they come at a cost they do serve a purpose. Earthquakes and volcanoes give rise to new land and mountains allowing species to populate where they couldn't before. Many arise from below the oceans. The rain and wind storms arise mainly from overheated oceans or polluted air. Earth's way of cleansing itself allowing for life to continue. Think of it as earth's way of puking so it can become healthier.

So here's the bottom line...
Whatever this creator is he/she/it plays no favorites. The sun shines on every living creature. The good, the bad and the ugly. Everything born has in it's destiny to die. Those who cannot accept this equality are only making themselves more miserable then need be and adds to others' sufferings.

Some Stats For This Blog

Some of these browsers I never heard of. Maybe they are in use from some of the foreign countries. One thing for sure is 'Internet Explorer' is falling out of favor even though I prefer it for most things. Maybe because I'm more familiar with it and have most of my bookmarks and passwords software attached to it.

Who knew there were so many 'Linux' users. Are those in use by more of the foreign countries as well?

Wonder why I have more viewers in Italy and Canada then the United States?

Another thing I noticed is very few click on the links inside my articles. Gosh you people must trust me a lot :-)

What am I to conclude?
Well not much really. If there's anything-- most readers have wide ranging interests and very little to say since comments are few. Does this mean most people agree with what they read?

When I look over the number of hits on each article there definitely is no pattern to them. This pretty much is the way I enjoy posting. That is to say spending most of my time on the wide interests I have without being bogged down in never ending debates with trolls.

I look over these stats from time to time and see no reason to change. Just thought I share this information with you for no particular reason.

Everything You Need To Know About The Mueller Report

Ain't nothing to know. It wasn't made pubic yet. So everybody should just shut the hell up already till everyone gets a chance to read it in it's entirety for themselves. Frankly I'd be surprised if we ever get the chance.

Why I No Longer Argue Politics

There is an actual physical reason based in the brain why rational reasoning with other humans is nearly impossible.

It's called "emotional addiction".

I really hope you've taken the time to watch the video. You'll see why the political turmoil is mostly based on emotional addictions caused by chemicals in the brain. Which means whether you're a conservative or a liberal you're up against another's addiction. It would be much like trying to take someone's heroin from them. An almost impossible task.

Think about that next time you see two sides going at it.

My Pharmacy Driving Me Nuts

Thursday two weeks ago I got email it's time to renew my prescription. Since my van is in the auto body shop ( 6 weeks when promised two) I waited till Monday the following week to renew. Got a robo call it's too early to renew and scheduled them for Friday and Sunday later this past week. Come Friday said one of the four wasn't in stock and expected them the following Tuesday. Then on Sunday said the second would also have to be ordered a few days later. On the same Sunday said one of them would cost $183 which it wouldn't. Medicare part B pays for them. When I called she said Medicare isn't open on Sunday she would call them on Monday.

Point is all four were prescribed on the same day three months ago and now it will take at least two weeks to get this straightened out so I can pick these up without making three trips (if I'm even able to get this billing straightened out). I'll be lucky to get them before my medicine runs out.

Last year I went through this same thing three times. I even got a bill one time saying I owed them $400 when my insurance already paid them. What a bunch of shit!!!!

Anyone else have these same problems?

Check out the responses from New Zealanders on AOC's TWITTER FEED. Often times most responses are hate filled. However in this case I found most of them rather informative.

Disturbing Videos

My Comments
Video #1: Seems to me Afghanistan is like reliving our Vietnam war bad policy.

Video #2: Which do you greater fear, scooter guy or these Brooklyn cops?

Video #3: I wholeheartedly agree. Instead of helping those in South America the United States is punishing those countries in which they live simply because they refuse to play ball with us. May I suggest everyone (including the United States) mind their own business and stay in their own backyard. Somebody please explain to me how what we're doing in South America is going to improve their lives making them less intent on leaving it?

Not Taylor Swift. Not Motown Music Video

"I Knew You Were Trouble"- Taylor Swift
(Motown Style Cover) ft. Tia Simone

Reminds me how much I miss the Motown music era

SPEAKING OF MOTOWN...

A New Motown Influenced Musical...
"The First Wives Club (The Musical).. What happened?
(It's been dead-in-the-water since 2015)
I've been keeping an eye out for this ever since 2005. That's when the people behind this show first attempted to find the financing necessary to stage this show on Broadway. It's been years and nothing! :-(

The musical scores were written by the team of Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier, and Eddie Holland. The very same three who wrote songs for Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas, The Four Tops, The Isley Brothers, Freda Payne, The Temptations and a whole lot of others.

Here's a sneak peak.
What do you think?       Is this a HIT?

Apparently some others didn't think so..

Local Journalism Is Dying

TPM
Town By Town, Local Journalism Is Dying In Plain Sight
"More than 1,400 other cities and towns across the U.S. to lose a newspaper over the past 15 years, according to an Associated Press"

I find most of my local information from social media sites such as blogs, Twitter, Facebook and so forth. As do the local paper and TV reporters I suspect. As far as radio-- forget about them entirely.

I wish it weren't so but let's face it paid professional investigative journalists are a dying breed. The best we can hope for are leaks to the internet from inside sources. Other information from people when they feel wronged. Not exactly a great way to provide unbiased oversight.

TV Shows. They Don't Make Them Like This Anymore

Dean Martin

Taxi- You Wouldn't Get A Way With This One Today

You Wouldn't Get A Way With This One Today Either

All these contained humor in boozing, drugs, anti-Semitism and discrimination. Just goes to prove we lost our sense of humor. What these shows did was show how foolish people look when they booze, take drugs or choose to discriminate. The audience wasn't shocked but rather amused by how stupid these characters made themselves look. I hardly think anyone wanted to emulate these kinds of behaviors. Rather, tried to avoid making themselves becoming dim-witted as those characters they laughed at.

In avoiding to show how idiotic people look to others when they act like this we've sanitized the airwaves. I don't think this is a good thing.

Anyone Have Experience With Auto Body Shop Repairs?

In early February I decided to have work done on my van. I'm paying for this out of my own pocket. It's for rust and some peeling paint.

I was told the work would take 10 days and I could bring it in 3 weeks. Well it's been two weeks since then and they haven't started yet.

The excuse was employees called in sick. Now they say it will be about another two weeks. That's a total of almost two months!

My questions..
Should I be suspicious?
Is this normal?
Any advice?

Disunited States Filled With Negativism

Over the last few months I'm overcome with so much negativism coming from all corners. It's everywhere. Nearly 100% of all the comments I'm reading on blogs, news sites, social media and especially the divisive talk at CPAC.

Seems everywhere I turn somebody's trying to screw over someone else. Big pharma, banking, robocall scams, hospital overcharges-- you name it somebody's trying to pull a number on someone else. People even accused CNN of stacking Bernie Sanders’ CNN Town Hall Audience with political insiders which would make him look unfavorable.

Rather then endlessly belaboring a point I'll simply say this. No society can last which has the kind of people incapable of inner self discipline geared towards ethics, truthfulness, morality, empathy, respect, patience and understanding where our differences may lay. Laws cannot enable these values. Only people themselves.

Right now I'm not seeing it. Sad fact is it seems to be getting worse.

In other words...
We are capable of being the worst threat unto ourselves.
