Senate Republicans Blocked 1/6 Commission Legislation

huffpost.com
Republicans Filibuster Bill Establishing Bipartisan Jan. 6 Commission
"Senate Republicans blocked bipartisan legislation on Friday that would have established an independent 9/11-style commission to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol... The vote tally was 54 to 35, but the bill needed 60 votes... Several senators did not even vote, likely because they’d left town for Memorial Day weekend."

Or they were too coward to commit. There's something going on here far more sinister. Almost as if there were a cover up similar to the 9/11 and JFK investigations  Americans aren't entitled to learn about.

This is just the beginnings of Republican opposition. If they can't agree on this, after they themselves were physically threatened, the cult likely will oppose any and everything that even hints of bipartisanship. I'm not surprised.

Party first. United States second as usual.

  2. Morning Call (Tom Shorthall) kstill reports 5 people dead because of the Jan 6 entry into the Capitol. Simply false. There was only one, Ashli Babbitt, who was shot by an unnamed officer inside while she was still outside a locked door. Such a Commission MIGHT have provided more information about this killing, but I doubt it. Her family’s lawsuit will, though.

    1. Five people died either shortly before, during, or after the event - one was shot, one died of a drug overdose, and three succumbed to natural causes.

    3. The Republican members were given the opportunity to pick an equal number of investigators on the commission. What was proposed was nothing like the dozens of Benghazi hearings which conservatives apparently figured were far more important then some silly insurgency in the halls of congress which threatened our very democracy, Pelosi, even the vice president himself. Pelosi gave Republicans a chance to be heard and they blew it.

Dems could have held countless Benghazi like hearings since they control all the committees Instead proposed a bipartisan commission. Repubs essentially gave both the Dems and the country itself the finger instead. All to try and hide whatever it is they think needs hiding from the American people.

What conservatives think, all those looking to overthrow the government would just go away if we ignore them? Absolutely not. Maybe, just maybe some of them wished it would have succeeded. Is it possible that's why they tried to bury this investigation legislation?

    4. Anything short of a full investigation on an attempted overthrow of our legitimate election while congress was performing it's constitutional duty is treasonous in nature. All members of congress swore an oath to uphold our constitution. Anything less is a violation of that oath. Pelosi is honoring hers by moving forward with or without them. Get over it.
