The Republican Healthcare Plan Nobody Likes

"The bill, experts said, falls far short of the goals President Donald Trump laid out: Affordable coverage for everyone; lower deductibles and health care costs; better care; and zero cuts to Medicaid. Instead, the bill is almost certain to reduce overall coverage, result in deductibles increasing, and will phase out Obamacare's Medicaid expansion...

The House bill uses the savings from spending less on health coverage to eliminate taxes that pay for Obamacare: About $600 billion over the next 10 years...

Perhaps most importantly, the bill radically reforms Medicaid and phases out the ACA's expansion of the program by 2020,"

"During his campaign for President, Donald Trump openly mocked people with disabilities. Now he and his allies in Congress are threatening to slash Medicaid—a program 15 million people with disabilities of them rely on for basic living standards. It’s time to tell Donald Trump and Congress: hands of Medicaid."

What Trump’s Medicaid Plan Would Mean for People with Disabilities

"The border wall could cost $15 billion, according to estimates."

My Comments
In addition this administration wants another $84 billion to be spent on defense over the next year and a half. This on top of the $600 billion they already plan to allocate in the next budget.

Well I can clearly see where the priorities are--and it ain't us. Less money for disaster funding (FEMA). Longer lines at the airport (TSA). Diminished coast guard services. Less money for education, clean air and water, etc. A few days ago a group formed to try and persuade Trump away from his campaign promises to not tinker with Medicare and Social Security. Ain't that a fine kettle of fish.

This president promised a bunch of new great paying jobs. Looks like folks we're sure gonna need them to pay for all these new bombs and that magnificent wall. These may or may not make us safer. One thing is for sure--none of these are going to make us any healthier or improve the quality of our lives.

I can understand there are those who take the view it's not government's responsibility--but who else can protect us from predatory insane drug prices, medical costs, etc. If they don't want to provide it at least enact laws wherein we have a chance to stand on our own.

UPDATED
(03/09/2017)

Politico is now reporting-- A proposal from Reps. Joe Barton (R-Texas) and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) would freeze Medicaid enrollment under enhanced Obamacare rates at the end of 2017, two years sooner than the GOP repeal bill allows.
