Dorney Park Still Looking For 2017 Workers

"The amusement and water park will hold its final preseason job fair this Saturday, March 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m."

My Comments
Perhaps I can shed a little light on this. For many years in the past Dorney Park relied on H-1B work visas. Many would stay in Cedar Crest college dorms after students left them in spring. This benefited the college as well as DP. They'd be shuttled in yellow buses back and forth to campus and the park. I have no knowledge this is still happening. However it might explain why the park is conducting a third round since these work visas approvals are becoming ever shorter in supply.

DP like many of the communities along the Jersey shore-places like Wildwood-are coming under increasing pressure trying to come up with adequate staffing. Disney's parks came up with a plan years ago allowing students to transfer college credits. Perhaps that might be one alternative.

This similar to farmer operators seeking workers during the planting and harvesting seasons. Maybe farms so too should come up with such a plan.

Be that as it may--there was once was a time teachers and students would seek these jobs over the summer back in the 50's and 60's. For whatever reasons Americans no longer are willing.

I find it rather hypocritical many are bellyaching about foreigners taking away our jobs. Face it--when given the opportunity few want them. Let's get real. If we want to enjoy amusement parks and consume farm products somebody's going to have to provide labor for them. I'd suggest we allow far more work VISA's for these kind of jobs opposed to pretending illegals coming across the border are responsible for stealing jobs few are willing to take.
