Another Weekend Another Trip To Mar-a-Lago
Besides golfing The Washington Post reports ... Trump to headline a $580,600-per-couple fundraiser, the most expensive of his reelection bid "The dinner, taking place just a few miles from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club.... is expected to attract about 30 people and raise more than $10 million for the president’s reelection committee and the party, according to an RNC official."

According to Open Secrets Representative Wild has raised $ 1.4 million for her re-election.Its getting difficult for the President to keep up with the Democratic fundraising

DeleteSince you quoted OPEN SECRETS they're stating from Dec. 31st to February 3, 2020 his campaign has gotten a combined $232,093,160. Not exactly a paltry sum. They also went on to point out in 2016 he received "free media attention valued at about $5 billion," I'm certain between FOX News, One American News network and other conservative outlets he'll do just fine.
Some of the lesser candidates are loaning money to fund own campaigns. Something Donald didn't and never will do. So far this presidential gig has been very profitable for him and his family/ Not many can claim that. (want me to go into detail?)
Difference is taxpayers end up paying for Donald to travel to his fundraisers. This is his 29th trip to Mar-a-lago alone costing taxpayers $133.8 million in total. Equivalent to a presidential salary of 334 years!
DeleteThis is not counting any of his other trips down the street to his hotel or golf club in NJ. which almost half were for fund raisers. Something else he's also been known to do before his rallies on frequent occasions.

Normally campaigns refund these expenses but if the president is going somewhere as his official duty he does not have to. However there's no saying he has to if the fundraiser just so happens to be in the location he is traveling to.
It's also worth noting the secret service refuses to hand over to congress or respond to The Washington Post's FOIA requests information for their expenses. In some cases the newspaper found the secret service was charged as much as $650 a room per night at Mar-a-Lago (3x's the normal rate) on one Mar-a-Lago visit, White House employees ran up a $1,006 bar tab, which taxpayers also paid.
You made a good point and I agree.Lets stop all Presidential travel. This is a 2 way street
ReplyDeleteThis is a 2 way street
DeleteNo it's not. No other president profited from his travels to his own commercial properties. NONE
Of course presidents should travel no matter which party. That's not what I'm saying and you know it. Trump can travel all he wants. Just not to use it as an excuse to soak taxpayers so he can line his pockets two or three times a month unnecessarily..
