Researchers found a unusual amount of heat being generated beneath the ice. Hence they are melting from below having an affect on what lies above. As ice melts it becomes darker and as the ocean is exposed this area is less able to deflect the sun's rays. While this does spell double trouble it's not the only concern. Beneath these areas huge amounts of methane (a global warming gas) that once was trapped beneath these waters can escape. Hence a triple threat.
The Pacific Ocean is also warming
As a result the balance of sea life is not only being interrupted, but so is the weather pattern for Western states. It's predicted this winter (2015-2016) will see vast floods occurring in Western states. For the deniers who walk among us this should be proof enough in the few months ahead.
Cold water fish such as salmon threatened
"In California, Washington, Oregon and Idaho, salmon are extinct in nearly 40 percent of the rivers they were known to inhabit .. Around the world, the story is much the same: Global Atlantic salmon catches fell 80 percent from 1970 to 2000."
While some neanderthal like politicians insist global warming is hogwash they may be very disappointed in the coming days when fish starts disappearing from menus and mom's house is under water. One can argue what the causes are, but there's no excuse for denying what's happening is real. We may or may not be able as humans to stop it, but writing it off as though it doesn't exist is pure ignorance. Why wouldn't we want try to instate some counter measures no matter how impossible the task may seem?
