Giuliani Goes Out On A Limb

When he says, "Blacks Have 'Responsibility' To Reduce Need For Police Presence"

I almost hate to agree with Giuliani, but there's a kernel of truth in what he says.

Although I will say this. We are friends with a couple whom the husband is Hispanic. Even though he is a white collar professional and well dressed there's been seldom a time he wasn't singled out and embarrassed at a airport. Nor when he was driving somewhere. And I don't just mean pulled over. He was carded and had himself and the car searched nearly every time. I'm not sure how well Caucasians would deal with the kind of BS he has to put up with.

That said, it's a shame when I read about the majority of East Indians and Asians who are hard working business owners and the Pakistani cab drivers who fell victim to many in the black or Hispanic community who seem to take less initiative as they. Be truthful, generally speaking how many cabs do you see being driven by or 7-11's and gas stations run by blacks or Hispanics?

This is not a condemnation, but after seeing what happened to other members of a minority who are shop owners in Ferguson it doesn't speak well for their cause. There's no reason nor any benefit. to rob, destroy & attack others who have taken the initiative and done the hard work to try and eek out a living for themselves. So yes, there would be less need for police and their heavy handed tactics if people would only behave themselves.

The surest way to reduce the number of police (and have to pay for) is to put them out of work by having fewer need for them. This is one occupation I would love to see go away. So long as there is a ever increasing demand there will be more of them. If anyone really wants cops to go away it's simply a matter of no longer having a need for them. For now and going forward into the future I see it as a blooming industry. That's really not too smart is it?

Kabul Police Chief I'm Outta Here

Aljazeera-- "Kabul police chief Gen. Mohammed Zahir resigned on Sunday, following three Taliban attacks in 10 days on foreign guest houses and in the capital... Kabul has seen eight deadly suicide attacks against high-profile targets in the past 16 days."

Damn that place is getting to be dangerous as being a police chief in Mexico!

How About Those Philadelphia 76ers

Q. How could the team improve their odds of winning?
A. By hosting pregame fan tryouts.

Q. What do the Philadelphia 76ers and possums have in common?
A. Both play dead at home and get killed on the road!

Q: Why doesn't Pittsburgh have a professional basketball team?
A: Because then Philadelphia would want one.

Q. Why do Philadelphia 76ers fans keep their season tickets on their dashboards?
A. So they can park in handicap spaces.

Q. How many Philadelphia 76ers players does it take to change a tire?
A: One, unless it's a blowout, in which case they all show up.

Q. What do all basketball fans have in common with the Philadelphia 76ers?
A. In June both will be watching the NBA Finals on television.

Ferguson Missouri Riots

I fail to see how trashing, burning and looting many of the black owned businesses advances the cause. How stupid do you have to be destroying the black owned businesses that area residents depend on for their shopping needs?

As much as I'd like to be critical of police in Ferguson these rioters have proven a greater threat to their own for years to come then that of the police who have not burned nor destroyed downtown Ferguson..

While the shooting of Brown may have or my have not been justified, there's no excuse to penalize other blacks because of police actions. Talk about acting stupid!

If anyone wants to improve the situation people need to elect officials who want to run for office who represent the blacks. Burning down black businesses and rioting is not the way to go about doing things. It appears to me these black rioters would rather loot and riot then put people of their own like in mind into office.

Put Your Pants On Girls

Where's your dignity, ladies? As J-Lo, a 45-year-old mother of two, is the latest middle-aged diva to copy the degrading poses of young rivals, ANNABEL COLE begs: Put it away!

ANNABEL COLE took her 15-year-old girl to see Miley Cyrus's British show in May-- "Within the first ten minutes, we had crotch-grabbing, grinding and yet more foul language — building to impassioned rants in which she encouraged drug-taking and kissed someone of the same sex. Having foolishly agreed to take my daughter Elsa, soon to be 15, to the show at London's O2 arena, I was to endure two hours of the most inappropriate display by a pop star I have ever seen."

COMMENTARY
I'm not sure when all this began but it appears female performers find it impossible to sing wearing a dress or pants. Ok I get it, all of ya have tatas, butt cheeks and crotches you wanna put on display. The question is why? Is it to make all the little prepubescent boys & girls wet their pants? My God half of you are mothers. Is this what you want to set as an example for your kids when they see their mothers on stage?

These are the front line examples of what today's youngest boys & girls go to see in concert. Some of our younger teachers grew up weaned on this stuff. Is it any wonder we now read about some of the outrageous sex acts now occurring in our schools between some of the youngest members in our society?

Imagine the outrage if male rockers came out wearing nothing but a loin cloth across their crotch swinging their ballsacs. Imagine further the outrage they would suffer if their young daughters attended concerts where male performers groped, dry humped and licked the girls on stage during their performances. These men would be called pigs, pedophiles or worse. Why then is it OK for one and not the other?

I see their performances more like being strippers or some sort of burlesque act. Some of our greatest girls of rock like Janis Joplin, Pat Benatar, Grace Slick, Ronnie Spector, Gloria Estefan and 100's more had no need to pull down their pants to become famous. Just how desperate are these female performers?

Ok girls we've seen your ass, tongue, crotch and tatas over and over time and again. The act's getting old. Time to try something new. Try and actually create a hit we can all sing, dance and relate to. Most of us don't bump, grind and walk around without our pants on. These kind of so-called hits are never lasting like some of those we remember were inspired by and cherish for years long after the singer who sung them is gone.

I'm not sure what some of these pantsless girls are looking for as a lasting legacy. One thing's for sure they won't be remembered one day beyond the day the next vixen takes to the stage much younger then they to flaunt their wares. Is that really the goals they set for themselves when they first started out? If so they best enjoy it while they can for inevitability they will soon be forgotten.

The Amazon- Paradise Lost?

Mark J. Plotkin: What the people of the Amazon know that you don’t

According to Wikipedia.."Mark J. Plotkin (born May 21, 1955) is an ethnobotanist and a plant explorer in the Neotropics, where he is an expert on rainforest ecosystems. Plotkin is an advocate for tropical rainforest conservation.

Plotkin highlights the ironic marriage of natural products, indigenous wisdom, and biotechnology and details discoveries already producing leads in the laboratory: painkillers from the skin of rain forest frogs, anticoagulants from leech saliva, and antitumor agents from snake venom. Medicine Quest provides also background on the centuries-old pursuit of cures that ranges from the ancient Egyptians expeditions to foreign lands in search of healing plants, to the nineteenth-century development of aspirin; from willow bark, to the extraction of penicillin from fungi."

Mark Plotkin, Ph.D. is the President of the Amazon Conservation Team

COMMENTARY
Who's to say whether our technologically advanced civilizations or these so called primitives provide a better way of life or happiness for their families while alive on this planet.. One things for certain. These people aren't messing with ours. If so-called evolutionary advancement means we forcibly intrude on people to become like us it brings into question whether we've advanced as humans at all.

If the day ever comes that we make contact with a civilization beyond Earth we all better hope they're not much like us. If we can't respect our own kind why expect they would?

Where's The Space Aliens?

I read a really well written mind blowing article from a blog entitled 'Wait But Why'- "The Fermi Paradox". I realize most people aren't interested in this subject. I, on the other hand, can never quite get enough of this kind of stuff. I'll post some copy & paste stuff from there. Insert a video of mine. Then if readers want to read more they can hook up with that link if they are still interested. Finally I will post a few comments of my own.

"On the very best nights, we can see up to about 2,500 stars (roughly one hundred-millionth of the stars in our galaxy)... As many stars as there are in our galaxy (100 – 400 billion), there are roughly an equal number of galaxies in the observable universe... there are 100 Earth-like planets for every grain of sand in the world... we’d estimate that there are 1 billion Earth-like planets and 100,000 intelligent civilizations in our galaxy

So where is everybody?
... Maybe there are no higher civilizations in existence... civilization might view the entire physical world as a horribly primitive place, having long ago conquered their own biology and uploaded their brains to a virtual reality... a “superpredator” civilization (like humans are here on Earth)—who is far more advanced than everyone else and keeps it that way by exterminating any intelligent civilization once they get past a certain level.. our technology is too primitive and we’re listening for the wrong things... The universe might appear one way and be something else entirely, like a hologram. Or maybe we’re the aliens and we were planted here as an experiment or as a form of fertilizer. There’s even a chance that we’re all part of a computer simulation by some researcher from another world..."

A Few Comments Of My Own
I've always been filled with wonder about what's going on here. It's almost as if we're God's little joke on himself. A game of hide and seek if you will. All accomplished by limiting our human minds and understanding to a tiny glimpse of what is actually going on. After all, if I were in God's place I would probably do the same thing. Who needs to create beings that might one day mucky things up.

The question remains.. will we ever be able to comprehend the vastness or ever achieve the kind of understanding that we desire to comprehend all of this? I sincerely doubt this under our present form. That's why I was a huge fan of Stargate SG-1 in which writers explored many of these issues which previously aired on the Syfi channel.

""With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
~ Mathew 19:16 ~

“If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”
~ Mark 9:23 ~

“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
~ Luke 1:37 ~

This same thing is repeated in Mark 10:27 and in Luke 18:27. Many may not believe in what the bible says, but certainly there's a grain of truth in them. This didn't come out of thin air and man's imagination alone from these ancient religious scripts. Quantum physics and science are beginning to conclude many of these same things. If someone has a better understanding or explanation of this universe I'd be very interested in hearing from them.

Benghazi- Stick A Fork In it. It's Done!

TPM: GOP Intel Report Debunks Its Own Party's Nutty Benghazi Theories
Philly.com: GOP-led House report debunks Benghazi allegations
Aljazerra: GOP-led report debunks Benghazi allegations
Daily Mail.com: Republican-led Congress panel finds there was 'no intelligence failure' in the lead up to attack in Benghazi as report debunks theories and accusations

Now you would think this would put an end to it. Ah but not at FOX News who reports, "A leading Republican wants to expand the House investigation into the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack by adding a Senate probe."

Yeah sure there already have been 7 hearings which found nothing and now this "leading Republican" thinks it's a golly gee swell idea to do an 8th.

Am I to assume he will be Sean Hannity's guest in the near future?
Will Sean ever report on the last seven hearings' findings?

The act is getting old. Instead of tossing a football to his staff in the studio nearly every break. Perhaps a big red rubber nose, a honking horn & rubber duck might be more appropriate.

"Food Chain$" The Film

The film is currently playing in theatres although I could not find one locally around here. Given it's near Thanksgiving and the recent immigration announcement by the President I thought it appropriate to make people aware."Executive Produced by Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives) and Eric Schlosser (Food Inc, Fast Food Nation), FOOD CHAINS exposes the abuses rampant in farm labor in the United States and reveals the forces behind that exploitation through the narrative of an intrepid group of tomato pickers in Florida, the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, who are battling the 4 trillion dollar global supermarket industry - and winning!

There is more interest in food now than ever before, yet, no one is talking about the people who pick our food, the hundreds of thousands of hard working individuals to whom we are all connected through our purchases at supermarkets, farmers' markets and restaurants.

The World Is What You Think It To Be

I created these videos as far back as six years ago and for the first time will post them here on this blog.

I was inspired to post these videos for several reasons. Over the last year my wife's boss (and business owner) came down with leukemia (after suffering prior from thyroid cancer) and has had to deal with all the rollercoaster emotions that come because of these conditions. Currently undergoing bone marrow implantation at the Penn University Hospital the outcome over the next several months will once again challenge her & her husband's abilities to deal with this emotionally.

A fellow blogger (Sharon K.) who calls her website 'Pollyanna's World' up in Northeastern Pennsylvania was fighting her 3rd round against cancer this past spring. She also had a blog site. Because I've not been able to get a response (we spoke rather frequently in email) and now since her blog site is gone I fear the worse may have happened. Then there's the woman who works with my wife who lost her husband a few months ago to cancer and is also dealing with the emotional fallout.

For years I also followed and been inspired by Steve Schalchlin's blog 'Living In The Bonus Round'. Steve (now 60) despite given no chance of surviving his HIV infection first diagnosed in Spring of 1994 fights and struggles each day to make each day count as if it were his last.

"The Group"

Steve is a inspiration beyond words when it comes to fighting against hopelessness.
(His Early Diary Can Be Found Here)

Then only a few days ago M. Donovan started blogging once again under his blog now called 'A Positive Life'. It was then too I now learned Dick Nepon is also facing his own health challenges. My sincere appreciation goes out to each for sharing their most innermost thoughts.

All of this got me to thinking what each have in common. Each have caused them to begin reflecting on their lives and of nature itself. Perhaps by offering the following videos I made a few years ago they might in some way prove beneficial in their reflections. Let me apologize in advance if these videos fail to connect with what they are going through. Each must deal with things as only they can.

I'm not going to pretend to know what each of them are going through. However if ever I should find myself in their situation these videos I hope will provide some way of dealing with them for myself if that day should come. They each deal with perception on how we view things in this physical world..

Cosby An American Justice Embarrassment

In less then a week Bill Cosby's lifetime reputation and professional career has gone down the crapper faster then one could imagine. This isn't a matter of whether the guy is guilty or innocent as I have no way of knowing that. What I do know he has become the biggest example of the hypocrisy we as American claim to value regarding our justice system.

Our whole legal system is based on the presumption of innocence. It's one of the things that is suppose to set the United States apart from other countries. We have a former prosecutor, obviously with no ethics, who goes on TV and says he's convinced Cosby's guilty but admits he doesn't have legal evidence that would support his accusations. Why should anyone listen to a hypocritical law professional who once swore to uphold the values of our justice system doctrine under the presumption of innocence?

Media ran for the hills and have pulled all future projects as well as reruns of Cosby's shows in syndication. Over the last few weeks I also read other so-called news stories that claimed Bob Hope and Elvis ravaged every broad they could get their hands on. All of this is akin to out of control lynchings of persons' reputations via trial by gossiping innuendo.

This is the same press that demands their freedoms be respected under the constitution that they themselves are unwilling to abide by under the presumptions of innocence. Then insist those they accuse defend themselves for things they were never charged with. By not groveling themselves to the media doesn't mean in any way these celebrities are guilty of what they've been accused.

Put Up Or Shut Up
If any of these six women now accusing Cosby of these crimes have no evidence or proof of their accusations.. I'm sorry if this happened to you, but I will not take your word for it anymore then Cosby's. We have a justice system in place. The court of public opinion is not the place to air grievances. The press is doing these women no favors. They are exploiting both sides for their own gains. At the same time diminishing both respect and undermining confidence in our justice system.

If anyone should be held accountable it should be the press for it's failure to recognize it's responsibility to uphold the American justice system by reporting on substantiated facts.

Not he-said, she-said Jerry Springer like trash talking reporting they've taken to.

Fun Time Around The LVCI Ranch

I've been somewhat been distracted from blogging the last few days. A few days ago I caught whatever the granddaughters had and now have one hell of a cold. As if sneezing and wheezing weren't enough this is when my appliances decided it was the perfect time to attack.

First it was the extra refrigerator downstairs which began to have a mind of it's own. So I grabbed my voltmeter, screwdrivers and flashlight. Unloaded the freezer and took everything apart. Coils A-OK (not frozen over). Compressor is running and the coils are very cold. Hmmm why isn't the fan running in the freezer? Well I dug around and pulled the plug to the fan and the voltmeter said it wasn't getting any juice. Well apparently ripping the freezer apart was a waste of time. So I put it back together.

Maybe it's the wires from the temperature sensor down below in the refrigeration compartment. Nope got juice there. Oh oh.. can't get the damn thing back together till almost an hour later (and it's still not right). Time to lay on the floor and have a look at the defrost timer that hasn't worked for almost 10 years. I simply turned it to a run position and it stayed that way for the past 10 years... that is up until now.. damn it! I swear it's possessed. Sometimes the timer will run and never turn back on. At others it stays where I put it.. that is until I stop checking in on it. I'd bypass the thing but the wire insulation is nearly petrified too old and deeply buried. I'm afraid if I start tugging on them they will short inside the cabinet.

No sense crawling around the basement floor sick getting frustrated. So I tried to move on. Ah, but the computer won't have any of it. It's been locking up as many as three times a day. Also the power supply fan is starting to talk too by squealing So far I'm able to restart and shake the computer back to it's senses. Stay tuned.

Well the hell with both of them. What can go wrong putting down the storm windows for the Winter? Need you ask? I have old sash cord and weight windows. Wouldn't you know one of the weights got tangled inside with other and the bottom window refused to come back down. Well bullshit on this. I've had enough and gave it a good yank. OK the rope tore.. isn't that just great! Fortunately for me I found a supplier up in New England that makes spring pulleys (meaning you don't have to pull the frame apart). Unfortunately for me the remaining rope was still inside the window track which meant the piece of metal the pulley attaches to would not go down the cutout because of the rope. I forced it in by hammering it down (what else could I do) and now it's a bit sticky but the hell with it. Unless I get consumed by it not working right I'll attempt to find satisfaction in knowing there are 5 other windows in the same room that do. Damn it, but I will always know in the back of my mind.. won't I? :-)

Now the relatively new 32" flat screen is starting to talk back. Sometimes (not all the time) when I switch channels it goes black and comes back on the channel below it. Other times (only on the HD channels) it will break up. If I shut it off and reboot it works fine if sometimes for only a little while. Others for the rest of the night.

Even the wireless router about every two weeks or so seeks attention by requiring a reboot these days.

As long as I'm at it I have one more beef. Back in September they wanted to double the cost of my life insurance (in just one year). No way they are getting away with that. So I faxed the information to cancel the policy. The life insurance company in return sent me confirmation and later a check closing down the policy. Doesn't my employer come along in November and bill me for October and November!

Even though I explained and had proof they insisted because I didn't do it through my former employer's benefit site I still owed two more months. Not only that they said it wouldn't have cost me double but only a few dollars more a month. Sorry, but I feel I can't trust them. Too much confusion in my opinion.. I hold the belief that if someone confuses me. chances are I'm being taken. That's when I eliminate things such as these.

Americans Hate Congress Keeps Reelecting Them Anyway

'Politifact' did a little research and mostly agrees-- Congress has around a 11% approval rating but a 96% incumbent reelection rate.

There so many thoughts running through my mind. Instead I will only express one and it is directed to the voters. I don't want to hear anymore bellyaching about Congress. You voted for them.

When voters had the chance to realign their bets, instead they left em' ride. Just like gambling, the longer someone plays the same cards, the more likely to lose. Smooth move ex-lax.

Religion And School Calendar Conflicts (REPOST-UPDATED)

November 11, 2014 'The Washington Times' reported-- To appease Muslims, school district drops Christian, Jewish holidays from calendar

This is not the first time this came up. On Sept. 7, 2010 I posted on this very thing offering rather simple solutions. Hence I will repost this once again in it's entirety below.
* * *

According to Reuters News Service, Muslims want certain religious holidays off for their kids who attend New York City public schools. Muslims observe 11 holidays. Not any which fall on any of the public schools' days off. And they aren't happy!

Before I discuss the Muslims' request take a look at this "INTERFAITH CALENDAR".

This request may only be the tip of the iceberg. So many faiths. So many "Holy" days. This could just be the beginning of the school administrators nightmare on how to accommodate such requests. Most likely each of these religions will challenge schools in various courts.

Before everyone gets their panties in a ruffle, I have some rather simple suggestions I will present shortly for your consideration.

Public schools already have the former Christian holidays covered by calling them "Winter Holidays". This takes care of the Christians and the Kwanzaa folks. (Since Kwanzaa falls on Dec. 26, 2010).

Each year the "Spring Holidays" overlap Good Friday. These skirt the legal issues surrounding major Christian religious observances.

Some of the other more significant "holy" days remaining in December are; Dec. 2-9: Hanukkah * - Jewish

Dec. 8: Bodhi Day (Rohatsu) ** - Buddhism

Dec. 21: Solstice-Yule * - Wicca/Pagan Northern hemisphere

How can our public schools accommodate all of these and stay out of future legal squabbles?

Based on the Allentown School District 2010-2011 calendar, here's what I've come up with.

Let's take December's Winter Holidays (Dec. 24 & 27-31). The Martin Luther King day (Jan. 17). Add in the President's Holidays (Feb. 18 & 21). The three days of Spring Holidays (April 21,22 &25). There are 3 more for Thanksgiving. 1 more for Memorial day.

This gives us a total of 16 days to work with. Let's rename them PD's (Personal Days). These PD's would apply to both teachers and students.

These then would be days that schools were no longer closed on.

Before September 1st of each school year both students and teachers would be required to fill out request forms in order to receive their desired "Personal Days" off. The order of priority would favor those who require religious leave for their various faiths. This makes provisions for even the atheist that walk among us and have their own objections to these religious holidays.

By submitting these days in advance the school administration would have a heads up regarding the required staffing for those days. Based on staffing requirements, the school then can make a certain number of slots available for those teachers, who request them, to take off. Firstly based on their religious needs. Secondly by order of seniority.

As in having any such days off, academics would have to made up by those who have missed those lesson days.

There are three advantages to this. Number #1 is the schools wouldn't get involved in a protracted courtroom legal battles. Number #2, everyone gets the days most significant to them. Number #3, it doesn't pit people against one another as they exercise their individual religious freedoms.

---

We have become is a nation of peoples who shout at one another. Shortly this matter may come up and become an explosive issue in the media. It needn't be so with the plan I offered.

Quite simply we can accommodate one another if we just use our intellect (brains) before our emotions (mouths). What I have presented is a common sense solution.

Whether the motives for these religious holiday requests are driven by Muslims (anyone else for that matter) with impure intent just to stir the pot OR whether the motives are genuine, this diffuses the entire matter before it gets all ginned up by those who seek to destroy America by creating self destructing division within.

Make no mistake there are those who seek to pit us against one another. "Divide & Conquer". Right now it looks like those with malicious intentions are gaining the edge.

Right now is the time to show the world America can unite as one nation. That we can find solutions irregardless of our differences. Failure to do so, will weaken us and lead us to fail as a nation.

What better place to start then with our youth?

What better way could we "teach" our youth on how to get along with one another?

Sad Day For Print Journalists

It a sad day when the 'Orange County Register' asks reporters to help deliver newspapers

I assume these professionals spent both time and money pursuing a degree in journalism. When I hear of this it makes me feel good about being a blogger who doesn't have to get up early in the morning. Fill up my gas tank so I can go making circles around the city dropping off newspapers. Then go to the office hoping people will read what I tossed on their doorsteps.

If I were they I'd team up with a half a dozen or so of my coworkers and start a online monetized news service. They couldn't be much worse off. Good God, how much more desperate do people have to become in order to earn a honest living?

It's a monkey see, monkey do world. If this ever happens to reporters down at 6th & Linden please be kind enough to leave Bill White cookies & milk because he gets hungry a lot.

Democrats Deserved To Lose Congress

CBS News, "Senate Democrats plan to hold a vote Tuesday on a bill to approve the controversial Keystone XL pipeline, a move that could help Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-Louisiana, who is headed for a Dec. 6 runoff to keep her seat. Landrieu, the chairman of the Senate Energy Committee and a co-sponsor of the bill, appeared on the floor of the Senate and in a press conference for reporters."

Energy Independence?
I call bullshit..

Potential Keystone XL refineries continue to increase exports-- "Since 2008, when the application for the permit was first submitted to the Department of State, Gulf Coast exports of petroleum products have soared 172%."

While I have strong disagreements with today's version of Republicans... when it comes to compromising themselves under the guise of bipartisanship they are to be admired for stating clearly what they will and what they will not do. Conservatives support and stick together with one another in things they believe in. Unlike Democrats who ran from not only their President but on nearly everything Democrats traditionally once stood for just to scare up a few votes.

It should be no wonder why liberal voters didn't turn out and support Democratic candidates. Why should anyone waste their time on a party who no longer stands strongly on core issues and are now all too willing to hang Obama out to dry hoping he will veto the pipeline legislation for them. Something they don't have the balls to do for themselves.

I find no favor with today extreme right wing version of the Republican party. However, I have even less respect for a bunch sellouts the Democratic party has become with this pipeline deal. If candidates don't stand for something they stand for nothing. A party of nothing deserves nothing.

I don't know what became of either party (Extreme Republicans or woosie Democrats). I have no reason to vote for either. In my opinion many feel as I and neither should expect large voter turnouts in the future. What's the point if neither is going to stand for the things the average Joe Blow values in Washington?

I respect a party (Republicans) who outright stand against social programs, environment, immigration reform, etc. over another (Democrats) who I have no idea how the hell things will turn out when the going gets rough.

One thing is for sure.. neither political party is the same it was a decade or two ago. Both disgust me. No longer am I willing to chose between the lessor of two evils come voting time.

LC Nursing Home Woes

"The county’s administration wants to spend $1.5 million to create a 41-bed, short-term rehabilitation unit in the D2 wing of the nursing home in South Whitehall Township."

My Comments About The Article Above

There's no way simpler way to put this in perspective other then say in today's political climate few legislators give a damn about human services. How else can you explain legislators in Harrisburg coming up with nearly a billion dollars in lost revenue over the next 30 years for a sports arena and a bunch of the well connected in downtown Allentown, this while at the same time can't choke up about 1/15th of a percent (.15%) of that same amount which could make Cedarbrook sustainable?

It is said Cedarbrook is running a deficit somewhere between 3-5 million dollars a year. Even without the proposed rehab unit (on the high end) this will total up to $150 million (15% of that of the NIZ) over he next 30 years.

I think it's very obvious where Pennsylvania' priorities are. Restaurants, hotels, offices, an arena and fun stuff comes before basic human services. Some may argue these will eventually bring in much needed additional revenue. Whether NIZ eventually will be successful is not the issue. Cedarbrook doesn't have 30 years to wait to see when or if tax revenues should start flowing. Before the next $1.5 million is handed to construct yet another NIZ building legislators should be ashamed of themselves if they can't find only a fraction of what it will cost for just one of these new structures.

Government's main function (if not it's sole priority) should be to provide human services. Not to be a taxpayer supported lending institution for highly speculative commercial ventures.

Anyone who disagrees better hope they never grow old and earn a ton of money so they can sustain themselves in order to not have future need of the ever dwindling social services.

The Frosting On The Cake
Get a load of this. Many of these same commissioners who voted to delay the $1.5 million rehab proposal overrode the LC Executive's veto in order to pass a $1.25 million tax cut that only puts around $8 in taxpayer's pockets.

(About the same amount it will cost people to park to attend just three of their meetings downtown)

Supporting Today's Conservatives Hard For Me

Back in the day I voted for Republican candidates. This is becoming harder and harder for me because of things said like this...
"President Obama came out in support of net neutrality, asking the FCC to reclassify broadband as a public utility. This would help stop ISPs from creating "internet slow lanes" and throttling customers. Senator Ted Cruz—who accepted campaign funds from Comcast, one of those ISPs—thinks this is a bad idea... Cruz compared net neutrality to Obamacare.."

My Comments About The Article Above
It's hard enough that 100,000's of jobs have been eliminated because of technological advancements to no fault to those willing to work. Attitudes today within the Republican party generally speaking are now placing the middle class and those in the lower earnings category as being ignorant and lazy hence irrelevant. Basically this is starting to boil down to there should only be two classes of people to Cruz's way of thinking. One which can afford retirement, medical care, decent education, housing and so forth. The hell with the rest even when it comes to the internet.

Let me explain this clearly as possible. Every nation in the world throughout history (including our own) and those in today's world is/was torn apart as a result of income disparity. This is not the same Republican party I once voted for in some of the past elections a few years ago.

There will come a breaking point when all hopes of ever owning a home, earning a decent income, raising a family or being able to retire will become impossible with the present path we're taking. I dread to think what will happen on the day people simply put their hands up and walk away from all their obligations in complete surrender. Does anyone seriously think this can't happen?

This may seem like some sort of political game to some, but for others it is no game when it seriously affects their lives and those of their family. In every course throughout history there comes a breaking point. Call me a alarmist or loon if you will, but guys like Cruz and his ilk throughout history have resulted in nations failing. He would not be the first. Others have warned throughout history about guys like him before great nations have fallen in the past.

More nations have collapsed in the past from within then from outside. Anyone who follows Ted Cruz's advice needs to seriously question themselves. You've been forewarned. Either someone can ignore these warnings or not, but I sincerely believe if we as a country follow his ideas history will one day prove this was the guy who brought down the USA because of his poisonous doctrines. If there ever was a devil, this guy has to him. That's how strongly I feel.

Sorry Bob (Cell Phone Humor)

I am so sorry Bob. I've been riddled with guilt and I have to confess. I have been helping myself to your wife, day and night when you're not around. In fact, more than you. I do not get it at home, But that's no excuse. I can no longer live with the guilt and I hope you will accept my sincerest apology with my promise that it won't, ever happen again.

The man, anguished and betrayed, went into his bedroom, grabbed his gun, and without a word, shot his wife and killed her.

A few moments later, a second text came in: Bloody autospell !
I meant "wifi", not "wife"

Wage Theft?

Huffington Post reports In Denmark fast food workers make $20 an hour plus benefits, and the corporations who employ them are still profitable. Why there and not here?

Two Things Changed Lives On This Day (11/10)

25 years ago on Friday, November 10, 1989 the Germans starting tearing down the Berlin wall

Even though it was quite expensive this was the first day in 1951 telephone users could dial long distance for themselves without operator assistance.

Here's something else today's smartphone kids never heard either

We've come a long way since then. No longer do most of us even think about toll charges. The excruciating sounds of dialup internet. I'm not even sure if someone can still use old rotary pulse phones to wander through the menu options when contacting companies. These are all things we take for granted yet for many born only a few short years ago it seems like ancient history to them.

I hate to tell you this, but...
if you're one who remembers these your officially an old fart!
