Brouhaha Over A-Town Chief Of Police Son's Arrest

"69 News has obtained this video of the arrest of Christopher Fitzgerald, the son of Allentown Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald."

Commentary
Nearly everyone is blowing smoke over what transpired and are missing the main point. Whenever someone is driving and feels threatened by another driver never ever whip out a gun. That goes double if your wife and kids are with you. These days the first thing people seem to do is whip out a gun like they're Yosemite Sam.

I don't care if this guy was targeted or not targeted because of his race, him being the chief's son or any explanation he may have as to why he felt was reason to do what he did. As a public service I will offer some sage advice to anyone who may find themselves in this same situation.(1) Everyone these days has a cell phone. Use it. Dial 911
(2) Tell the emergency dispatcher of the situation and have them arrange for police to meet them somewhere. Then drive there to meet the police.

These days the NRA is brainwashing people they need to protect themselves far too often then necessary. If this guy would have done what I suggested he would never be in the hot water he is today and still have his job.

If the persons (whether detectives or not) in the car behind him felt as threatened as he claimed he was and were as trigger happy as he, it could have ended badly for all concerned. There could not be a better textbook case for what not to do in these circumstances.

Forget about all the other stuff surrounding this incident. It doesn't matter who the players were. What color the skin involved. Nor does it matter whether they were following him around for too long or too close. The only thing that matters is someone did something really stupid by pointing a deadly weapon and it could have cost lives.

Let me put this another way
If everybody whipped out a gun every time another driver did something someone interpreted as being reckless or threatening we'd be shoveling bodies off the streets everywhere. Depending who was the better shot, one of those bodies could be yours or your family's. Bullets don't care who was right or wrong.

What happened here was plain stupid and unnecessary. In far too many instances nature has a way of eliminating people acting stupid. How very fortunate this wasn't one of them.
