Whether one agrees with Obama or those who stand opposed to him there's one thing I think both can agree on... "To the victor goes the spoils"
Unless or until the 'Tea Party' gets someone elected to sit behind the desk in the oval office they can pass any legislation they want, but the President doesn't have to sign it into law. All this adds up to is chest thumping political bluster. Or as they say.. Nice Try. No Cigar.
While this film focuses on other nations I believe it would do well for everyone in this country as well to pay heed.
I cannot speak enough of how powerful a camera recordings can be. Every home should have them inside and out. All police should be wearing them to keep everybody honest. Stores, dash cams, streets and everywhere. There can never be too many. Video recordings now make it possible to eliminate the he-said, she-said argument in a court of law.
Speaking of the law. Here's a piece of advice Never ever voluntarily agree to a police search. Number one, it is your constitutional right. Secondarily many do not know that if they give consent in the eyes of the law it is the same as a confession when it goes to court. Basically it will tie the hands of a defense lawyer. You see under the constitution in a court of law police/prosecution has to prove 'probable cause' for justifying a search in the first place. By someone granting a search they've given up those rights.
I'm not advocating people should commit a criminal act, but it's far too easy that something could be found in one's home or car they weren't even aware of. Suppose one of your idiot friends had drugs on them and tossed them under your car seat. Suppose you weren't aware of the amount of liquor or cigarettes you bought out of state exceeded the legal limits. Or suppose the used car you just bought had the scent of drugs in it.
Perhaps the best reason of all in not consenting to a search is the search itself. Even if cops didn't find anything in your car or home.. ever see what they looked like when they were done? Imagine emptying all your drawers on the floor, throwing all your books off the shelf, pulling down all your ceiling panels or emptying your car's glove box, trunk, car seats & floor mats littering them all over the highway. You sure as hell didn't think they were going to straighten all that up when they were done did you?
As much as people think they may have nothing to hide it's never a good idea to give up one's rights. By doing so it makes it nearly impossible for a defense attorney (no matter how good they are) to defend someone no matter how innocent they may actually be. Let's be real here, not all cops or prosecutors are totally honest. Imagine if you will that evidence was planted on someone. If there was no 'probable cause' to begin with the evidence could be thrown out.
By all means I suggest people arm themselves with cameras both in the home, car and on their person. This keeps everyone honest and this could prevent an innocent person (cop or civilian) of being unfairly accused as well as assist police in their investigations.
Things are really not turning out so swell the last few days. The furnace recirculation motor began short cycling on and off for two days. No matter what I tried there was no saving it. So I called UGI for service. Wouldn't you know it, about a half hour before the guy showed up it began working just fine. What's with that?
At the same time my computer's power supply fan began to sing. I've had this machine for about 6 years and have replaced both hard drives, the video board fan and the power supply itself. Again no matter how many times I shook it to make the noise stop it would return.
Since it crashes for no reason (sometimes 3x's a day) and it takes three tries for it to boot up when it does I figured it's time to order another one.
Well wouldn't you know it! That was three does ago and it's been working 100% ever since I ordered another one. WHAT'S WITH THAT TOO!
These are gifts I never wanted for Christmas This pretty much cleaned out what I had budgeted for Christmas for the entire family & relatives.
Not that I want to whine, but it's pretty tough around this time of year having to rely mostly on Social Security. This is when my homeowners & car insurances are due and when heating bills start coming in at around $200-$300 a month.
But I do want to give a shout out to UGI. Not only do they have excellent service (had the replacement pump motor on his truck), but the price was much better then if I called someone else. Even though the motor settled down I figured there's no such thing as self healing and had him replace it. I would hate to see the heat conk out in the middle of the night.
As far as the new computer, I think I'll leave it in the box and set it aside till this one finally gives up the ghost. I absolutely dread spending the 40 or so hours it would take to set it up. Plus I love my Windows 7 and don't at all want to go Windows 8. The Windows 8 is great for our mobile iPad, but as a desktop I'm not hot on it at all. I love the clean look of my desktop icons w/o all the clutter that Windows 8 brings.
As you can see I took all my 'Start Menu' apps and put them into folders where I can quickly find them.
Presently I also have 5 speakers + a subwoofer the new one doesn't support. Neither does it have the TV tuner/recorder built into it I now have. May this computer live long and prosper so that I may leave the new computer boxed and remain as a backup for months to come :-)
Oh and by the way I've been nursing the 30 year old second refrigerator in the basement for weeks now. It could go at any time too.
Deer hunting season began on Monday, December 1st, 2014. Hikers stay off the trails. Keep your horses in the stable. Lock up the cows and hide the dogs.. 750,000 loaded hunters guns could be headed out into the woods of Pennsylvania.

Not So Much Anymore.. In the midst of all the public outcry against immigration, I wonder how those who are currently opposed feel about this?
Maybe the time has come to change the plaque at the 'Statue of Liberty' to read...
