Here it is the nutshell. I'm really impressed with the competency and experience of both witnesses Taylor and Kent. On a side note Kent served under four Republican Presidents and two Democrats. Generally speaking Republican members seemed more focused on Hunter Biden then the issue at hand.
Since I don't have a life at this point I've been watching this for five and one half hours. These hearings will probably go on for weeks in the House. Similarly in the Senate. All of this could be greatly expedited if Trump himself would show up before the committee. I bet this whole thing could be resolved in less then a couple of hours. Now there would be some MUST SEE TV!!

ReplyDeleteI hope you can continue watching. I tried to watch a repeat online last night but fell asleep. From the hour or so that I listened, I agree both of these witnesses were unflappable. I believe the GOP Counsel made some good points as well.
ReplyDeleteAs for Hunter Biden, he is by no means the spark who started this fire. He clearly traded on his father's public position to enrich himself, just as Donald Trump's children do. That is corrupt, but not legally corrupt.
The spark who started this fire is Donald Trump. Just as he pursued ridiculous conspiracy theories about Barack Obama's birth, he has attempted to spin the bad optics of Biden's employment at Burisma into something far more sinister, and for political purposes.

DeleteDuring yesterday’s inquiry, Mr. Kent revealed the investigation of Burisma, Ukraine, and Hunter Biden’s participation began in 2015 during the OBAMA administration. It was ignored by the Obama administration.
Because the former corrupt Ukraine government was suspected of being used to influence our 2016 election (the excuse for the later Mueller probe) it was appropriate for the Trump administration to encourage that investigation be completed prior to the 2020 election.

I understand why Leader Pelosi is running this impeachment process due to the weak field of Democratic Presidential candidates .I didn't know till a few days ago ago The Senate can subpoena witnesses if the inquiry goes that far.Nobody wants to take that path. Don't blink you might miss something

DeleteNO that's not the reason. There are two.
(1) Trump held ransom the bipartisan appropriated military money congress allocated to Ukraine by strong-arming them into starting an investigation into Donald's opponent's son.
(2) He also falsely believes Ukraine has DNC server information. Course this isn't true but if it were his intentions were far worse then Nixon's Watergate break in by far.
By these two actions is apparent he was trying to force Ukraine to interfere in our elections. This is not how United States is suppose to treat it's allies.
The Senate can subpoena witnesses if the inquiry goes that far.
DeleteOf course they can. That's why all this whining about Trump not having an opportunity to defend himself is plain old BULLSHIT. Trump wouldn't even have to wait till it gets to the Senate. His top level staff were already invited to appear. All refused. Nobody stopping Trump himself from appearing either.

I wouldn't be too certain. A few days ago I heard they very well may want to. Democrats throwing it over to the Senate so Republicans couldn't go home to campaign. Of course not exactly being original thinkers some Republicans then claimed it was their idea to tie up Democrats so they couldn't.
I'm not sure how procedure works but I suspect both parties would like to suspend Senate hearings till after the primaries. I'm not certain rules or the chief justice presiding over the hearings would allow that.
