Today is the day we "celebrate" our declared independence. It is not a salute to the flag (we have a special day for that). Nor is it about soldiers or our military battles. We have many other special days dedicated for those.
It seems people of the U.S. are not very educated when it comes to what this special day is actually about. JEESH!

I always believed Independence Day celebrated America’s break from oppressive government (British) control. A rejection of rule by monarchy, taxation and unfair regulations based upon classism.
The way things are moving in America now, we might want to consider an Independence Day, Part 2.
