Bunch Of Thoughts I Have

I tend to think unless the feds have recordings that prove 100% Allentown mayor Pawlowski implicated himself guilty of pay-to-play he's off the hook. Witnesses who cut deals by already admitting their guilt most likely will lack credibility in jurors eyes. Inference is one thing. Absolute self incriminating proof is another.

I've seen about four of five interviews Pa. Rep. Charlie Dent gave on TV the last week or so. OMG-- he should be Speaker Of The House. What a man of reason.

Elton John announced his retirement from touring. It's almost funny his planned farewell concerts will be spread over three years. What is truly exciting his first farewell tour date will take place at the PPL Center in Allentown on September 8th, 2018.

According to 'Alternet' Kimberly-Clark will use Trump's tax cuts to pay for it's plans to get rid of 5,000-5,500 people, --"Kimberly-Clark’s CFO Maria Henry said during a call on Tuesday that the GOP tax cut bill's “cash flow benefits” to the company will assist in paying for the layoffs and that “tax savings would also be used to make capital investments and to ‘allocate significant capital to shareholders,’” according to the New York Times."

The DOJ is planning on coming after so-called "sanctuary cities" threatening to arrest officials who won't enforce federal laws. Questions-- wouldn't local officials or law enforcement be exceeding their authority by enforcing federal laws? Should local taxpayers be forced to pay the costs of enforcing federal laws and resultant legal fees of our officials?

New York City is beginning to use "surge pricing" for vehicular traffic. One phase is charging different prices for bridges and tunnels during high volume periods. The second is using license plate readers to charge cars traveling on certain streets throughout the city. I can imagine one day this could come to the Lehigh Valley. You know what they say--monkey see, monkey do. Drivers may never know they're being charged or how much till they receive a bill. Could facial recognition one day be used to charge pedestrian foot traffic as well? Don't laugh. Nothing's too crazy anymore when it comes to government's money grabs.

Trump says no wall--no DACA. Democrats say-- no DACA no wall. I say come February 8th-- no budget. Not that I want it that way, but that is very much the reality we are facing.

Trump's at war with the FBI, sanctuary cities, liberals, so-called fake media, his former political opponent (Hillary), members of congress, former members of his own staff, women accusers, shithole countries, trade deals, Muslims, liberal leaning states and all so many more. Putin, China or our other advisories couldn't have asked for a better gift.

Pennsylvania legalized state gambling games, casinos, marijuana and now Philadelphia wants to legalize heroin shoot up sites. Legalized prostitution can't be far behind. Think of the cost savings Pennsylvania could realize if it shut down all those employed in vice investigations. MAGA again, eh?

Why did the U.S. require the RT (Russian) network register as a foreign agent? FOX News, talk radio and social media sites (especially comments left on Trump's own Twitter account) are doing far more damage to undermine peoples trust then RT ever could.

I have more thoughts but that will do it for now.

I call this blog "Lehigh Valley Clancularius Introspectives" for a reason. It's because you'll never know what I come up with next. Please follow me via email (right sidebar) or through an RSS feed. Even if it's only one or two items you find of interest to you.

  1. First, the DOJ does not have to prove actual money transactions in the Pawlowski case. All they have to prove is intent. It is ironic that everybody around Pawlowski is lying, even his main cover-man Fran Daugherty, while Pawlowski plays Sergeant Schultz. Second, Charlie Dent is a do nothing establishment congressman. For years he complained of Obama Care, but he has proposed nothing to change it and when he could have supported change, he refused. Third, Sanctuary cities are violating federal law. Therefore, they should face criminal and civil action. Fourth, Trump just unveiled a pathway to citizenship to DACA dreamers.

Not based on what witnesses (who plead guilty-second hand accounts) claim was his. Prosecution will have to convince jurors "intent" by his own words and direct actions. This mayor is as slippery as an eel. We all might agree he isn't innocent, but in the eyes of the law it's another matter.

"Charlie Dent is a do nothing establishment congressman"
      Congress.gov (Library Of Congress)
Sponsored Bills over each of his 2 year terms..
      2018-9
      2016-18
      2014-10
      2012-22
      2010-22
      etc.
GovTrack has lots more information. Overall Dent is neither a patsy for the Republican party nor a friend of the Democrats. He only missed 45 votes over 13 years (less then 1%). You may not agree with his politics BUT he's far from "a do nothing establishment congressman."

" Sanctuary cities are violating federal law."
That's a huge misnomer. Cities aren't harboring illegals--their simply not doing ICE's work for them. First off the federal government doesn't compensate city taxpayers for the time city police are suppose to spend on enforcing federal laws. Second Local police are not sworn in as federal agents. Thus question then arises whether municipal police would be superseding their legal authority. Which brings us to the third point. In several cases cities were sued when local police detained illegals. In each they lost. It cost municipal taxpayers a pretty penny when the feds refused to reimburse these expenses.

"Therefore, they should face criminal and civil action."
Civil Action--- As I explained they'd be damned if they did. Damned (by folks like you) if they don't.

Explain to me the legal grounds for criminal action against cops or city officials for not enforcing federal laws. Do you really want local cops to enforce all the federal statutes on the books? Let's say like local cops enforcing IRS rules? Of course not. It would be as silly as Pennsylvania cops enforcing New Jersey laws. Can you not see the separation between what authorities should legally be able to do and not do beyond their jurisdictions?

"Trump just unveiled a pathway to citizenship to DACA dreamers."
Actually it was more like a ransom note. It had strings attached I doubt many will find acceptable. The pathway for legislators is more like navigating a maze by Trump's own design. He upped the ransom from $19.9 billion for his wall to $25 billion for the next 10 years all in one shot. Demos offered $2 billion for next year. Who pays their bills 10 years in advance!!

  2. First of all, local police do other jurisdictions work when they arrest somebody, have a NCIC hit [warrant] and serve the confirmation as a detainer on the individual. It is all a matter of adding it to the paperwork at the jail. Sanctuary cities harbor illegals where they can roam at will without worries of jail and return. Civil Action in the form of not releasing any federal funds to sanctuary cities is appropriate. You still have not addressed Dent's inaction on Obama care. Any congressman can co-sponsor any bills; how many did he write? Finally, DACA'S DO NOT HAVE RIGHTS, they are not citizens; they are illegal immigrants who now have chance through the pathway program. {Better than getting rounded up and deported].

I thought I made it pretty clear. Courts have found cities libel if they "detain" someone beyond their sentence. Nearly every of the so-called sanctuary cities notify the Feds they have someone in lockup. Then it's up to federal agents to come and get them on the person's day of release. In all too many cases they don't and want the city to hang onto them. Then refuse to comp them if the city should get sued for doing so. Not to mention comp the locals for the extra room & board feds are unwilling to pay. In some cases I read feds didn't show up sometimes as long as three weeks.

"Civil Action in the form of not releasing any federal funds to sanctuary cities is appropriate."
Using that logic wouldn't it be just as approximate for states and cities to start a tax revenue war penalizing the federal government over it's laws they don't agree with?

"You still have not addressed Dent's inaction on Obama care. Any congressman can co-sponsor any bills; how many did he write?"
Rather mute point since Dent is leaving anyway. But hey if ya wanna go there-- According to the Library OOf Congress only 4 bills created by Paul Ryan made it to President's our of many dozens over the past 16 yeas. One was for renaming a post office in Wisconsin. Another to modify the taxation of arrow components, The 3rd was the "Evidence-Based Policymaking Commission Act of 2016. The only significant one he ever created dated back to the 2013-2014 session-- "Establishing the budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2014 and setting forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2015 through 2023."

As far as Dent's votes on Obamacare. I'm not sure why he should be held accountable. He wasn't sitting on one of the dozens of Republican committees which were charged with coming up with a better plan. Do you really believe any of those members would give two nickels what Dent thinks? Many considered him a RINO for not straight voting for repeal.

You're correct. They had "no rights" when their parents dragged them here or sent them over the border as kids. They had "no rights" to a path for citizenship through DACA. The only exception for them was by joining the military. Now even this is coming to an end. They could be discharged (kicked out) and sent out of the country.

While I agree completely illegal immigrants don't and shouldn't have rights and be sent back. These should be the exception. If these people registered every two years and complied with all that was required they signified their intentions. Unlike perhaps millions of other kids living here who hid from DACA. They undeserving a chance to stay.

There's two kinds of messages we're sending.
      (1) If you trust the government and play by the rules it can pull the rug out under you at any time. Something which should concern everyone even if they are a born citizen. TRUSTING the government at it's word is a big issue. Today them. Tomorrow who knows who will fall out of favor?

      (2) These human beings despite growing up alongside of us, keeping their noses clean and becoming good adult citizens by deporting them only serves to infer they'll never be worthy. Not like some good old red blooded born American I suppose? Here's a flash-- no matter where someone's born won't make them superior to another human being. So stop acting like it.

No one's asking a anyone to adopt them or take them into their homes (although some act like we are). Build your damn fence. Deport the 8 million illegals if you think you'll be able to sleep better at night. BUT leave this DACA group alone. They are the exception. They didn't come here on their own. In most cases stray animals who show up in our backyards are treated better. Why not this group?

  3. If any wants to jump in--feel free to do so from this point forward.

I'm not the kind to have the stamina to delve into this debate forever. I think we know where we both stand. I'm not going to change your mind. Nor yours mine. Besides nothing we say or do here will make one damn bit a difference with whatever Washington politicians decide to do.

Thanks for the input and caring enough to express your POV. That's more then I get from 99% of the other people reading these posts.
