Obamacare Premiums For Pennsylvanians
The numbers are in for what the premiums will cost Pennsylvanian's to purchase health insurance on Pennsylvania's exchange.
According to this article published in 'The Morning Call', "A 27-year-old Pennsylvanian will pay on average $187 a month for a mid-level plan. A family of four will pay $675, according to estimates. Tax credits will lower the costs for some... early estimates show premium costs will be 16 percent lower than previously projected by the independent Congressional Budget Office... Pennsylvanians will have 56 plans to choose from"
The current 'Plan A' by the Republicans in congress is to block funding for it. If that should fail, 'Plan B' will be an attempt to delay it for one year. All of this makes me wonder if delaying it wasn't the main goal in the first place. Are Republicans counting on Obama crumbling, like he has done in the past, trying reach a compromise bill?
Perhaps they are counting on this strategy to accomplish two things. (1) Delay it before people find out it will actually cost less then what they're now paying. (2) Push it back hoping Republicans can gain enough seats in congress during the 2014 elections so they can dismantle it.
What remains to be seen in this political drama is whether Obama will compromise himself again or whether he will stand his ground this time.
Who will blink first?
OR
Will neither side?
