Proposed bill would compensate areas, like the Lehigh Valley, with many tax-exempt properties "... the legislation would provide significant funding to Allentown....areas are host to large hospital and medical facility campuses."

COMMENTARY:
That's all fine and dandy but would it lower residents property taxes? Or will the cities just stash it as a windfall? I bet it would be the latter.

The problem I have it's taking money from state taxpayers and covering the costs associated with these tax-exempt properties. Yeah I know they're non profits.. SO AM I!

Wouldn't it be a much better idea to earmark this money towards lowering the private residents' taxes directly? This rather then dumping a chunk of cash into another government entity's piggy bank? We all know what happens when politicians get their hands on extra loot.

Every property owner can tell you what happened when we were promised casino revenue would go towards our school taxes. Instead of sending the money to property owners it was sent directly to the Allentown School District who, despite receiving this windfall, has raised taxes every single year.

Why would this outcome be any different!

Taking money from people who never owned slaves or those who immigrated here after slavery ended giving it to people who never were slaves is unjustifiable The proposed cost could be $50 billion in a city that only has an annual budget of $14 billion.

How about the Internment of Japanese Americans?

How about the native Americans' land that was taken while we're at it?

If we start throwing money at everybody who was ever wronged in the United States past there will be no end to it.

The average income for a San Franciscan is $54,549. How can anyone possibly justify making particular individuals multi-millionaires with taxpayer money, just because of their skin color? Talk about your reverse discrimination.
