Single Female Seeks Male Companionship,
This ad in the Atlanta Journal caused quite a stir, and it’s no surprise why!
"Single female seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I’m a beautiful girl who loves to have fun.
I enjoy long walks in the woods, riding in a pickup truck, hunting, camping, fishing, and cozy winter nights by the fire. Candlelight dinners? You’ll have me eating out of your hand.
Treat me right, and I’ll show you my appreciation.
I’ll be waiting for you at the door when you get home, wearing nothing but what nature gave me. Kiss me, and I’m yours. Call xxx-xxxx and ask for Daisy."
You’d be shocked to know that over 15,000 men ended up calling the local Humane Society... to inquire about an 8-week-old Labrador retriever named Daisy!

Pennsylvania Pulled The Old Switcheroo
Repost From January 2014
Harkin back to 2002 when Gov. Ed Rendell ran for office. He promised homeowners tax relief in exchange for approving slots and casinos?
After the passage of Act 1 in 2006 homeowners apparently starting counting their chickens before they hatched because look what has happened since.
Next time Pennsylvania politicians say they want to save taxpayers money, we should all ask ourselves how much is it going to cost us this time!
The premise seemed like a good idea. Allowing a limited 51,000 slots and revenue from them to go towards homeowners was a soft sell. Perhaps some homeowners might have even thought they'd get a check. Nope. The money went to the school districts and we never saw it. Nor saw the promised reductions either.
Why not?
Here's a clue... Governor Corbett's 2011-2012 budget cut over $1.1 billion from education funds earmarked for local districts. Last January it was reported in 2012 Pa. made $1.3 billion in revenue from slots. What a coincidence, eh?
We came a long way baby
Then in January 2010 Pennsylvania allowed table games to be added. This initially brought in another $250 million for the state. As of October 2012 it's now has grown to $2.5 billion. Then in November 2013 Pennsylvania passed a law allowing gambling to take place in bars. This is expected to bring in another $150 million to the state and about $13 million spread out amongst municipalities where they reside.
This may seem like good news for homeowners. It's not. Since table games have been added, slot revenue has gone flat. Property tax payers will not see one thin dime from the table revenues nor bar gambling because it wasn't written into the law. Only the revenue from the slots.
What we have here friends is ye ole' 'bait & switch'. Anyone other than being a Harrisburg politician would likely end up in jail if they tried to pull this off.
A QUICK ANALYSIS Casinos are being used as a tool to mask billion$ of dollars in increased taxes. Nearly every dollar credited to Pa. homeowners' property tax bill, is matched dollar for dollar by cuts to funds going to local school districts.
After getting their foot in the door (by promising property tax relief and only allowing slots), the state went on to include revenue from table games and the soon to be gambling in bars for itself. Neither of which will go towards property tax relief.
All together this will generate over $2.5 billion in revenue for the state in 2014. Additional tax revenue Pa. would have never have had if we never approved gambling in the first place.. ($1.5b from table games + $150M bar gambling + $1.1b cuts to education funding).
Slice it. Dice it any way you want, as a result of homeowners being suckered in by promises of property tax relief (we never got) the state is making out like a bandit. Next time Pennsylvania promises tax relief, I'd lube up for the inevitable of what is sure to follow. Then again, I'm the kind of guy who's confused as to why anyone still believes they're actually saving money by paying for something at a 20% off sale.

Pirated Music

Pirated Music.. It's as old as I am
In 2006 the headlines shouted,
"RIAA seeks to shut down entire internet by criminalizing all file sharing"
Then in March of this year hackers retaliated against the RIAA,
"Hackers Shut Down Music Industry Website Over $75 Trillion Lawsuit"
What many of my younger readers may not realize this battle has been raging since Friday, March 27, 1964 when 'Radio Caroline' first signed on the air 50,000 watts strong. The largest transmission power allowed in U.S. on the AM band.
The studio & transmitters were installed on a ship 3 miles off the coast of England. It was just out of range of legal authorities (or so they believed).
Before then Britain's kids had nearly no exposure to Rock & Roll like we here in America since the early 50's. They were hungry for this. Therefore the ship broadcasts of 'Radio Caroline' thrived on and off for 25 years.
The ship you see above is the MV Ross Revenge. It played host to 'Radio Caroline' starting in 1983. It was a converted fishing trawler. They used this ship after it's original ship, the Mi Amigo, sank in 1980 nearly drowning all those aboard. It was the last ship they broadcasted from.
The ships of 'Radio Caroline' were around from 1964 until the second ship was boarded. The equipment was either smashed or confiscated in 1989 by authorities.
'Radio Caroline' has been off the air and back on several times since that time. Currently they can be no longer found on the satellite SKY CHANNEL 0199. However according to their current website, they are still on the air on the 'Eurobird' satellite.
Will there ever be an end of 'Radio Caroline'?
Maybe, maybe not. They are like the mythical bird of the Greeks, 'the phoenix' ever returning.
Now here's a few clips that showcase this legendary radio station.
See Wikipedia: "Radio Caroline"
Pictures of 'Radio Caroline' (1983-1989)
So you see music piracy is not something new. The legal battle between the recording industry and those who pirate musical recordings rages on to this very day.
But there never will be a battle the likes of the legendary 'Radio Caroline'.

JFK'S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when DeGaulle decided to pull out of NATO.
DeGaulle said he wanted all US military out of France as soon as possible.
Rusk responded, "Does that include those who are buried here?"
DeGaulle did not respond.

There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American.
During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying 'Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intended to do, bomb them?'
A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: 'Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?'

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S. , English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies.
At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of Officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, 'Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?'
Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied, 'Maybe it's because the Brit's, Canadians, Aussie's and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German.'

Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on.
"You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically...
Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously.
"Then you should know enough to have your passport ready."
The American said, 'The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."
"Impossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France !"
The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to.."

Yin Yang And Everything In-Between
Repost
The opposites of Yin/Yang could be defined in several ways. In science as electrons/protons. In politics conservatives/liberals. In biblical terms good/evil. The colors of black/white. However in this world nothing is simple. One force that does remain constant between the two is balance. Newton's 3rd law states "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." This is the premise I will build on.
Since the beginning evil or goodness has tried to overcome the other. For every steadfast believer in liberalism there is another who will match them on the conservative side. All mankind's problems begin when one becomes radicalized into disbelieving components can coexist in-between I'll give you a few examples. What each have in common is intolerance of the other as if this world only consisted two dimensionally. All problems arise when one extreme force meets the other. Scientifically speaking if we took the electrical energy on one side of a generator and crossed it with the other the resultant force would create a damaging short circuit. However when passing the current through an intelligently designed device it then produces something useful. In other words by eliminating the extremes to either side a good outcome can be produced.
Unfortunately there will always extremists in this world. It's just the way this world is and always has been at it's core. The question we each need ask ourselves are we the Yin, the Yang or somewhere in-between composed of both? Do we want to live our lives as extremists or doing something useful in-between the two?
Nothing Is Just A or B
Not all cops or those interrogated are innocent.
Not all religious beliefs are righteous.
Neither political party can completely represent their members views..
There are women/men and those in between.
Ancient religion describes life's travel through karma as a circle (much like the Yin/Yang symbol you see here) . You leave at the top. Travel through the circle ending up on the opposite side from which you started. That religion is trying to tell people not to pick up too much karma (Yin or Yang) on the way back to the beginning of our journey. At the same time warning us if we cut our life short (because of extremism) along the way we've not completed life's journey. Whether someone wishes to believe or not, it's still good advice.
Maybe they were on to something. Ever notice how all the galaxies, planets and suns are all circular?

WFMZ Reports, Developer Proposes Retail, Townhomes On Mauch Chunk Road

I say bah humbug to the explosive development going on throughout the Lehigh Valley. Who needs it. I sure don't.
More people means they need more jobs. More jobs more people. More, more, more of everything means.. I could list so many more issues but those would be my top six peeves.

Air Supply - Making Love Out of Nothing at All (Tour Concert)
Some groups sound better in the studio then they ever will in concert. 'Air Supply' is just the opposite. None of their recordings can ever hope to capture their true essence like in a LIVE concert. This is a band that doesn't need smoke, lasers and half naked dancers. They are the whole enchilada unto themselves.

Trump Awoken Sleeping Dragon
China has imposed 125% on American goods.
Is restricting precious medals to the United States.
Is now imposing sanctions on certain American investors and businesses.
Returned a Boeing jet to the United States and cancelled further contracts.
They could create even more damage by selling off $750b in U.S. Bonds resulting in the devaluation of the U.S. dollar globally.
In return the U.S. threatens to charge China-built ships of up to $1.5 million per port call with the fees increasing each year for the next three . Keep playing stupid games and win more stupid prizes. This is a pissing game we're not going to win.

Tolls, Parking, Public Transportation- No Brainer
Repost
Why are people forced to put cash into MTA kiosks in NYC for a pass to ride subways?
Why not simply swipe a credit card for them as well as a bus ride here in the Lehigh Valley too?
Why not eliminate all the other stuff making it unnecessarily complicated for every place we visit for parking meters/decks, toll roads, etc. with all these numerous 'apps'?
It seems government makes things much more complicated then things need to be. Maybe perhaps because there're in cahoots with businesses enabling each to profit from fees off these services. Think about this for a minute.
eZpass requires a minim balance. Subways, bus and train fares require advance deposits for commuters. If these things only required a swipe of a credit card it would be a pay-as-you-go thing. In addition knowing (for security's sake) it wouldn't be linked into each of these many individual services to one's checking account people wouldn't be tying up funds for something they may not use for weeks, months or maybe never with the related security risks involved.
Simply put, a credit card would eliminate the requirement for access to checking accounts, smart phones and make all these services easily accessible to nearly everyone who has one or more credit cards already in their wallets plus the overhead costs involved. One card would work everywhere travelers go for everything. Why not?

Becoming An American- Can You Pass The Tests?
Repost
There's a lot of chitter-chatter in the news over the issue of immigration and the granting of citizenship. It's not as easy as many think. Before someone is allowed to even take the tests, there can be a lot of hoops to jump through. Let's take a brief look at them before we even consider the tests themselves.
There are two ways to becoming a U.S. citizen. Either by birth or naturalization. A person who was born outside of the United States, but one of his/her parents is a U.S. citizen. For them a 'Certificate of Citizenship' will be issued. For all others a 'Certificate of Naturalization'. Let's focus on the latter.
To be become a 'naturalized citizen' it begins with petitioning for a 'green card'.
Most are granted to those who have a family member already living in the United States or through a job offer or through Refugee/Asylee Status. There are however over a dozen of other ways one may qualify.
Assuming someone was granted 'Permanent Resident' status (a 'Green Card'). The next step requires a test be taken. BUT, before someone can take that test, they must meet dozens of eligibility requirements. Two of those which apply for most people are-- A single person must be 18 years old and a permanent resident for 5 years without leaving the United States for trips of 6 months or longer. If someone's currently married to a U.S. citizen the permanent residency requirement for their spouse is 3 years and 18 years of age. The U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security's U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services has a 'A Guide To Naturalization' online which explains who else may qualify.
Assuming someone satisfies the eligibility requirements, they are now allowed to take the 'Naturalization Certificate' tests.
U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services has THIS SAMPLE TEST and another one HERE. As well as study materials for the tests. I did both of those sample tests and had 1 wrong.
Fact Monster.com has another one. I did that one and had none wrong.
Atlantic.com has another one. This one's a bit tougher. I scored a 50.
How well did you do on these tests?

* A Muslim group holding a armed rally outside a Christian church?
* A Cuban committing a terrorist act?
* A atheist killing someone over religious differences?
* A cop having a run in with someone who wasn't resisting?
* A Chinese person holding up a restaurant?
* A ... ah, you get the idea?

Paul Harvey: "Letter From God"
Repost
Today's corporate owned radio is full of trash talking gas bags. Where are the professional well spoken radio legends like Paul Harvey was in his day?
Where are the rational voices that so once inspired us in TV, movies & radio?

The Magic Bank Account
Repost
Imagine that you had won the Following *PRIZE* in a contest: Each morning your bank would deposit $86,400 In your private account for your use. However, this prize has Rules.
The set of Rules:
What would you personally do?
You would buy anything and everything you wanted right? Not only for yourself, but for all the people you love and care for. Even for people you don't know, because you couldn't possibly spend it all on yourself, right? You would try to spend every penny, and use it all, because you knew it would be replenished in the morning, right?
Actually this GAME is real. Each of us is already a winner of this *PRIZE*. We just can't seem to see it. The PRIZE is *TIME*
Each morning we awaken to Receive 86,400 seconds as a gift of Life. And when we go to sleep at night any remaining time is not credited to us. What we haven't used up that day is forever lost. Yesterday is forever gone. Each morning the account is refilled, but the bank can dissolve your account at any time WITHOUT WARNING...
So, what will you do with your 86,400 seconds?

Reagan On Free Trade
In Short
Nobody wins trade wars. Tariffs on imports is nothing more then a tax burden placed on consumers. A much better idea is an agreement between two nations based on quotas they both feel are fair to each another.
It should be also added
When the United States imposes sanctions on other countries it is designed to put a squeeze on citizens in the hopes of causing it's government to collapse through an uprising. The side effect creates huge amounts of refugees trying to flee them for both our borders and those of others. I'd much rather turning to our 'state department' for alternative solutions.
Just as each of our own neighbors we may not like living next door it's better then getting in a shoot out with them.

Radio The Way It Use To Be
Once upon a time listening to radio was a fun uplifting experience. Unlike today's talking heads radio once brought fun, silliness and joy. They've been replaced by a bunch of sour pusses endlessly stuffing our heads with negativity they take all too seriously.
I for shall forever believe radio should be a fun place full of goofy entertainment where one can escape. Too bad all that's changed.
