Doug Smith is on his deathbed and knows the end is near. His nurse, his wife, his daughter and 2 sons, are with him. He asks for 2 witnesses to be present and a camcorder be in place to record his last wishes, and when all is ready he begins to speak:

My son, "Bernie, I want you to take the Mayfair houses."
My daughter "Sybil, you take the apartments over in the east end."
My son, "Jamie, I want you to take the offices over in the City Centre."
"Sarah, my dear wife, please take all the residential buildings on the banks of the river."

The nurse and witnesses are blown away as they did not realize his extensive holdings, and as Doug slips away, the nurse says, "Mrs. Smith, your husband must have been such a hard-working man to have accumulated all this property".

Sarah replies, "Property ? .... the asshole had a paper route!"

According to THESE STATISTICS only a little over half participate voting in presidential elections. This means no matter who wins none are given a mandate (although pundits would have us believe otherwise).

Some might be of the opinion this is a matter of apathy. I on other hand am starting to think most people are not as divided as politicians and the big money interests would make us out to be. Instead it could be most people (including others throughout the world) are just trying to get along without government intruding on their lives.

I once read a philosophical piece which stated evil feeds on peoples differences like mosquitoes drawn to blood. It supposed if humans could overcome their differences evil would be starved to death no longer attracted to this Earth.

I'm simply not that smart, but this is all based on the "uncertainty principle" in quantum physics.



My take away from the final part of that videoWe can consciously observe "things" in our immediate physical world in the present time. But we cannot observe "things" beyond our current consciousness's time references (the future). There's predictability in what we may expect will happen, but this is where the "uncertainty principle" comes into play. No matter how one attempts to define what will happen with exactness, there are too many factors influencing the expected outcome. Efforts to produce an outcome with certainty predicated on logic via our everyday world observations are doomed to fail.




Another way of explaining this metaphorically (the way I understand it)If we adjust a camera's exposure time to take a photo of a fast moving train to the fastest shutter speed possible, we have a clear indication of exactly where that train is. If however we increase the length of exposure, the train now becomes a blur. Hence we can't be quite as certain exactly where that train was.

Two things are going on here. In one photo we see the train clearly in focus, although we have no idea whether or not it was moving. In the other blurred photo we are very aware that indeed it was moving, but we no longer can be certain exactly where it was at that precise millisecond. We can either have one or the other but not both at the same time. This somewhat explains how the uncertainty principle works. The more aware of one, the less we know about the other. The math used in this principle attempts to equate the two, but never can with absolute certainty.


Getting back to this theory on immortalityQuantum physics allows for an infinite number of universes all to exist at the same time. It also accepts the idea that matter and energy are one and the same. One person's consciousness living in one time reference observes something as energy while another person's may observe it as matter. Hence this scientist speculates that when our body matter dissolves (dies to those observers around us) consciousness simply refocuses itself someplace else. In other words since matter/energy is perpetual then consciousness must be of the same order.


One more thing before you dismiss this missive as utter nonsenseAll around us are millions upon millions of radio waves. They are emitted from satellites, cell phones, TV and a untold number of electronic devices. Each have their own frequencies, bandwidths and encryption methods. All one needs is the proper receiver to make sense for what purpose each was designed to do Think of these frequencies as all the possibilities that exist throughout the universe in both energy and matter form. If any of these receivers no longer appear to be working (die), doesn't mean the signals are no longer there. Nor does it necessarily mean a receiver may no longer function. Perhaps it's oscillators have been re-tuned to another frequency (beyond death) that is beyond human hearing (the living).

All around us are countless frequencies that the brain uses to interpret light and sound. Many of which animals are capable of seeing and hearing of which we can not. Who's to say if our consciousness cannot convert (re-tune) it's awareness in such a way that cannot be seen, touched, felt nor heard by those who consciousness remain in this particular frame of reference?

Renters Insurance Won't Cover This!

New York Daily News: Girlfriend of Michigan man who blowtorched squirrel, burned down apartment complex on the hook for $2 million -- "Even though Barbara Pellow was asleep when her beau, Khek Chanthalavong, fired up the fiery tool just outside of their Holland Township home, she’s liable for destruction because her name is on the lease, according to a Tuesday court ruling, WZZM reported."

I checked this out. Most policies are capped far below this amount and wouldn't cover this kind of act in the first place. Although the apartment owner had insurance apparently his company went after her.

I have two thoughts here. Number one I never earned that much over my lifetime. Second thought is.. she'd been better off buying a home. Had this happened I very much doubt she'd be on the hook for that amount of loot even if her insurance denied payment. Something to consider if someone thinks renting may be a better financial alternative.

I wonder if they're still dating?

Spending On Congressional Committees Out Of Whack

...By comparison, the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs — which has a roster of 25 lawmakers and about 27 staff members — spent $2.5 million in 2013 and has a $3 million budget for 2014. The Ethics Committee budget for 2014 was more than $3 million, with a staff of about 25 serving 10 lawmakers."


COMMENTRAYFirst off I have no idea why it cost millions of dollars. Is tossing around nearly $9,000,000 on just three committees the most cost effective way of taking care of business in the U.S. Congress?

Secondly after all is said and done which outcome (like there ever will be one) will benefit taxpaying citizens the most?

I realize in today's world $9 million doesn't seem to go that far anymore However it seems to me it could be spent more wisely on just about anything other then a bunch of windbags sitting around hosting roasts and shamelessly pointing their own imperfect fingers at a bevy of witnesses unlucky enough to be subpoenaed by congress.

In almost every case witnesses called to testify are threatened and placed under intimidation. This by a bunch of jackals who's own backyards are likely to have more weeds in them then the ones they investigate.

If congress spent as much time doing things as they do talking about them we might actually get something done.

I'm all for 'check & balance', but with these committees taxpayers are getting more checks for them then balance dontcha' think?

Overpopulation- Trouble Ahead

"On October 31, the world’s population is officially scheduled to hit seven billion — a rise of two billion in less than a quarter century."The problem is not so much the extraordinary number of humans, but rather how we're managing our Earth's resources.

Naysayers label people who warn of the dire consequences of ignoring nature's warning signs as a bunch of "environmental wackos" who are attempting to subversively "social engineer" some form of political extremism. The facts are however that Earth does not have unlimited capacity.

Think of Earth as a "fish tank" for human life. Because that's what it is. The air we breath is contained by the upper layers of atmosphere. Air can be mucked up faster then Earth can filter pollutants out. Same with water, the land and just about anything else we need to live. We can extract too many minerals and fossil fuels at too fast a rate. It takes Earth millions of years to replenish.

Imagine what happens when you put too many fish in a tank w/o having the proper filtering equipment or enough untarnished healthy fish food. That pretty much is what this Earth is all about when it comes to the fate of us humans on this blue marble container in space we call home. Fish can't survive outside the tank and neither can we.

Another way to think about this is to compare the Earth to a living being. This is the way many ancient cultures did. Inside all of us bacteria thrive. They need our bodies to sustain themselves as much as we need them. W/O a healthy balance between the two, both become sick and die. Ergo the Earth along with it's humans as well.

The problem facing us is NOT so much regarding the number of humans. It is how we use our skills in order to sustain ourselves as our Earthly population grows.

For instance by avoiding building our McMansions & warehouses on once fertile croplands and orchards for the much needed growing of food stuffs in the future.

Another would be by restraining our use of nature's limited energy resources through more efficient equipment design or alternative means or better yet by the combination of the two.

Still others are * Avoid over fishing via less consumption

* Over packaging generates needless garbage
For one, think plastic bottles

* Eat less meat products.
Meat requires 16 lbs of grain just to produce 1 pound of meat.

* Energy efficient lighting
LED's use 1/10th the power a incandescent bulb consumesI could list countless other ways, but those are a few of the top ways we each can reduce our own personal consumption of Earth's resources.

Many will continue to say this is all BS. Call me a 'greenie', but I can not understand how anyone could not apply common logic to all of this. The Earth's ability to refresh itself in order to sustain life is limited. Our ability to repopulate, over use resources and mucky up the air, water and dirt is not. Something has to give.

Whether anyone wants to agree or not, the future will come.. with or without us being part of the equation. One need look no further then the millions of stars where life does not and cannot exist. In the big scheme of things we humans are just not that important to the universe. If we humans don't give a hoot about our own future existence, why should it?

You can argue with me, but you can't argue with scientific fact. We humans and our planet are an abnormality surrounded by a inhospitable 14 billion old universe.

When 'Star Trek' first aired I wondered how Captain James T. Kirk could know all the alien languages. After all if you want to get to know an alien upfront close and really personal you need to be able to communicate with them. Captain Kirk sure had a rapport going for him, especially with the women. Now we know how he did it. Obviously he had a unseen electronic speech translator which sure seemed to impress the ladies.

Who would have imagined back in 1966 such a device-- like many of the other 'Star Trek' devices-- would be made possible for anyone today owning a small communicator smartphone.

Gambler's Date Night Cost Him $100,000

Boston's WHDH TV 7 News reported on 04/07/2017 how a man was denied a $100,000 jackpot because a woman pushed the button instead of him. Evidently it doesn't matter who is paying for the slot machine. The only thing that matters is who pushes the button. Supposedly he told her to push the button for him hoping for good luck. Turns out it was quite lucky.. for her. Him.. not so much.


Reportedly she walked out of the Ft. Lauderdale casino with the $100g's in hand leaving him behind. It was said she even had the nerve to ask security to escort her out alone so her date couldn't follow her.

Personally I don't see those two having much of a future. Too many differences. His understanding of getting lucky is apparently far different then hers.

Besides it looks like she already gave him a "honey moon".

Broadway A Look Back: 'Minnie's Boys'

According to the Internet Broadway Database this On-Broadway musical played at the Imperial Theatre, (3/26/1970 - 5/30/1970)

There were a total of 64 previews and only 80 performances.

"Minnie's Boys" starring Shelly Winters was considered a Broadway flop because it lasted liitle more then two months on Broadway. It opened on March 26, 1970 and ended it run May 30, 1970.

The musical was based on a behind-the-scenes look at the early days of the Marx Brothers and their mother's strong determination for her boys.

None the less I think the musical score was outstanding and put together a musical compilation video I hope you will enjoy.

The album is now considered a collector's item that sells for round $15-$30

Allentown Has An Immigration Problem

I'm not speaking about foreign citizens but rather various people moving in and out of Allentown like it were some sort of stay in a motel. Essentially Allentown facilitates and encourages this kind of behavior by allowing more rentals to flourish. Instead of using intelligent zoning ordinances encouraging ownership we continue to entice people allowing them to easily drift in and out of the city.

I'm trying really hard to be nice in the way I'm saying this, but if I were to put it more bluntly... What kind of idiotic policy is it that encourages people to blow in and out of this city without having to invest some sort of long term skin in the game?

What sense does it make to have 5 or 10 renters move into a block over that of 5 or 10 who actually own and have a vested interest in it?

Much the same applies to the NIZ. Why should a business give a hoot if they can simply pack up and move without having a stake in the building they occupy over the long term instead of actually owning it. Why should they anymore then any other renter as to what local government does if they can simply pack up and move?

It's all about assuming ownership and the long term stake each has in both the success for the city and themselves. Without these elements no one nor the city itself will ever achieve the things which would make this city a better place to live.
