Trump Impeachment Inquiry Begins

What triggered the formal inquiry was his phone call to Ukraine's president. To my thinking this is only the tip of the iceberg. I can't begin to imagine what Trump and Putin were canoodling about for an hour behind closed doors at the G20 in 2017. No other president in history ever did that alone in private. We still don't know his financial dealings either. There certainly were some very questionable money movements from Saudi, Russian oligarchs and a few others into Trump and his immediate family. I wouldn't care about these if he weren't the president of the United States, but he is. My hope is some of these could be examined through this long overdue inquiry.

I fully expect a huge amount of every kind of deflection he and his buddies can come up with not to talk about Donald himself. The least imaginative tactic nearly every defense tries is trashing the accusers reputations. Don't fall for it. Facts are the only thing that matter. Even when there's the inevitable hate filled attacks on the accusers let us all try and stay focused strictly on the evidence.

Personally I think this will not bode well for Democrats. But it is the right thing to do. It's congress's constitutional obligation to provide oversight when questionable activities are brought to their attention. It's what they do everyday in both the Senate and the House. In this case it just happens to be the president. Both Republicans and Democrats have conducted these in the past. Each time it wasn't without extreme controversy. I'm positive this time will be no different. This is how we avoid despots.

Anyone having a problem with this should take it up with the framers of the constitution. You know the bunch that fought like hell too in 1787 amongst themselves.

  1. You call it "oversight," I call it "Presidential harrasment." Certainly obstruction of the Executive Branch and a purposeful failure of a Democrat-led Congress to work on legislation on behalf of citizens.

Yes, it should create disappointment in voters. Particularly trouble for newly elected Democrats in Congress.

    1. The house passed over 100 legislative bills. Se they can walk and chew gum at the same time. Want to talk about obstruction? Take a look at how the republican controlled congress acted towards Obama's last 10 years in office. Never heard so much whining. Maybe Donald could start selling pity party hats at his next rally.

Here's a link to get you starting searching 239 Bills the House passed awaiting Senate action so far this year alone.

BTW only 2 got by Moscow Mitch and were signed by the president.

Maybe Donald ought to get a fire under his and Mitch's ass and start doing something other then "executive actions"

  2. To be clear the impeachment inquiry began the day Trump was elected. When Ms Pelosi took over Speaker Of The House impeachment went into over drive.I always fall for trashing the accusers and hate filled attacks on them.I want to know everything including their credit scores. If this impeachment investigation was legitimate Pelosi will call for a impeachment vote next Monday.Members of the House have already made their decision. Pelosi knows She has to drag this out till the day before election day 2021 to accomplish her mission. Best Regards, Bill

    1. It seems to me Washington politics has always been a blood sport no matter to which party they belong. Fortunately gun duels have been relegated to Washington's history past. So at least there's that :-)

  3. Thought it was interesting that I received an e-mail from Congresswoman Wild Yesterday. She danced around her impeachment vote but it was clear she's full speed on impeachment. The person who drafted the e-mail could not help themselves and had a donate icon on the message.
