Sinkholes

I've been checking out geological surveys regarding limestone (CAL) around the area. Major deposits appear to run all the way from Reading, across Bethlehem clear into Easton with some of the depths of limestone ranging up to 2,000 feet! Simple explanation is limestone breaks down it solidity in water. It lies underground over this entire area. It's not a new problem either...

"The Allentown formation had spawned 639 known holes by 1987, the second-highest number of any formation in the Great Valley east of Harrisburg."From what I'm concluding it doesn't matter whether it be Lehigh, Northampton or Berks, all have had this problem. Face it, they are all over the place. This is creepy. We all like to think the ground beneath us is stable. It is not. You never know where or when. This problem is not exclusive to Allentown.

No one is immune- Omaha, Nebraska 2010
