Speaking Of Income Disparity

The New York Times published in October 2011--The top 1% of the families are taking in an average of $3.9 million per year.
(14,000 families)

The top 10% of the families are taking in an average of $2.9 million a year.
(135,000 families)

53% of the American families are taking in an average of just $36,000.
(13,200,000 families)
Questions To Be Asked
How did we get so far out of whack?

How is that the top 1% can take in $10,684 a day while the larger portion (53%) only take in $98 a day?

How is that the top 10% can take in $7,945 a day while the larger portion (53%) only take in $98 a day?

No matter how talented or educated , how is it possible that someone's efforts are worth so much less then the next person's?

Is there any possible way to fix this?

I'm not suggesting we play Robin Hood. Nor advocating the punishing of success But really come on, is it even humanly possible that someone deserves 80 to 109 times more the reward per day then the next guy?

This kind of disparity is not only unfair, it's unhealthy for a nation. Yeah even the world. It creates frustration and anger. No one should be punished for becoming financially successful. On the other hand, when does it reach a breaking point? When it's too much for the 53% to be able to enrich those above them? The gap is widening.

We need a worldwide course correction. Frankly I don't know if that will ever happen. I suppose that day will come when the 53% no longer have enough to feed into the current system. That day may not be too far away. Something has to give. Peacefully or otherwise it's going to be a bumpy ride up ahead.

Simply put, the wealthy have to loosen up the reins a bit, or they will have no one left who can afford the very things that make them wealthy in the first place.
