Allentown, What Goes Unreported

I just found out this morning that at least four businesses in the West end of Allentown have had their windows and one had a door smashed out by vandalism this past Sunday night (01/22/2012) into Monday morning. These kind of things used to be in the print media's police blotter section.

For months we had an epidemic of copper downspout thefts that went unreported in the media. Granted it made the news when the perps were caught. Questions remain would we have ever heard anything about it had they not been caught?

There was also a gun used to rob a garage poker game down the street that went unreported in the news media a few years back. It involved an off duty city officer who was in attendance. A detective came door to door including mine. Nothing showed up in the local media in the reporting of it.

This along with the West End neighborhood crime watch reports that never are reported on in the media. Things such thefts, vehicles entries, street fights, etc.

How much is really flying under the radar shall never be known unless someone listens to a scanner capable of receiving Allentown's "trunked radio system".

Some people think we live in a bubble out here immune from the rest of the city. Think again.
